Where all banned posters eventually go.
While I enjoy watching the sport, I don't really understand how coaches decide who to redshirt, when to redshirt, and in what combinations, for any given year. Compared to football, it is totally baffling. Is there anywhere I can go to read about this and understand the strategy? I don't get why sometimes even the best wrestlers on a given team still get redshirted.

At the end of the day wrestling is an individual sport. Coaches use redshirts to give guys a year to just focus on training with the ultimate goal of being national champ. Most freshman aren’t ready to come in and compete for national championships so that’s normally when the redshirt will be used.

Coaches will send out stud freshman once in awhile, ala Zain, Hall, Lee, RBY, Nico. In those cases it’s my guess that the coaches will use the redshirt later on in year 2, 3 or 4 to ensure these kids get the best chance to win a NC.

You have 5 yrs to compete in 4 so there’s strategy involved and Cael a wizard with this stuff.
