Any tOSu vs NC State video today?

Boykin couldn't even get up off the mat after the escape. Snyder just walked behind him for the TD.
Boykin quit, but that's some bad officiating.

Snyder got several takedowns by cutting Boykin while on the mat, Boykin didn't get up, so Snyder just spun behind him for an easy 2. Rinse, repeat.

Ref needs to ding Boykin for stalling and not score the takedown. And Boykin would've been in danger of a stall-out.

Man, Jack was really underwhelming. He looked awful. Not one effective offensive move the whole match.
Didn't see the match...how did McKenna & Jack score? 2 takedowns, an escape and RT, vs 2 escapes?

Prior to the bout, after watching both, I would have picked Jack. His length, and a little funk, give many problems.

... plus everyone else: what are you guys talking about?

I saw Heil vs. Heil at 141 today. Or was that Heil vs. Karam?

I actually thought McKenna looked pretty good. I know it's a low bar but that's the most offense I've ever seen out of him.

I'm looking forward to the Kemerer-Hidlay national semifinal. (Though, just to be safe, let's put Pantaleo and Mickey both on their side of the bracket!)
Pantaleo with a head-scratcher vs Heffernan today. Depending on B1G's, may find himself outside the top-8.

He's a hard one to figure out. He's got the ability to beat pretty much anyone, yet can lose to pretty much anyone. Seems to wrestle up or down to his competition.

McKenna took a quick shot off the opening whistle, rode for about 50 sec, then Jack escaped.

McKenna got a 2nd takedown just before the first buzzer. Both guys were on knees and shot simultaneously, could hear their heads colliding. McKenna ended up to the side and converted.

After that, they traded escapes + McKenna RT. I think Jack took 1 shot in the last 2 periods, when he was down 4-1 after 1. By the time Jack took that shot (late 3rd), McKenna was already in backpedal mode.

Both guys spent most of the match either on a knee, both knees, or in a 3-point stance. Ref could've justifiably called numerous double stalls. Ultimately, IIRC there was 1 stall on McKenna with about 20 sec left, on the one shot Jack actually took.

Moore has a gas tank issue. Campbell won't AA. Hayes gasses too. Micah is low AA at best.

On the other hand, Pletcher looks solid, NATO is NATO and Snyder is Snyder.

McKenna and Nato seems to be coming into form at the right time. You could say the exact opposite for Moore though. Clearly he has major issues cutting weight and is in real danger of not even making the podium IMO.

Let's not get carried away. Moore has 2 losses, both to likely AAs (Cassar would be if starting). He is the highest returning placer. He has two first period pins over the next highest returning placer. He has 12 bonus point wins this year.

He might not place, but that would be an upset, in the "things happen at nationals" category. I don't see anyone below the top 7 or 8 who can beat him, so that means he's in the quarters. He'd then have to lose both the quarters and his first consolations match to not reach the podium (and he would not face a fellow quarterfinalist in the blood round -- he'd face someone who lost earlier and fought thru consis).

It is true that he's gassing, and it appears as though college wrestling is starting to adjust to him. He'll now how 2 weeks to rest and recover before B10s, and then another 2 weeks before nationals.

That doesn't mean he'll repeat his top 3 finish -- that does appear to be at risk, both from his performance and from an influx of talent (Rasheed, Darmstadt, Macchiavello).

I’d wager That’s more like his ceiling

I think you are both right. The gap between his ceiling and floor is pretty narrow.

Nato has never finished worse than 3rd and I don't see that changing this year. If the Jersey Kid misses NCAAs, Nato's chances only improve.

McKenna is tough, particularly when he gets an early lead, since he is tough to score on and can ride. But 141 is a deep and pretty evenly matched weight class. So lots of variables and possible outcomes in this class.

Think you're overstating Moore's issues. He has two losses, both to tough opponents. He might have a gassing issue, but there still aren't that many guys who can beat him IMO.

But was the NCST guy a leftie? Cause the story for his last loss was he had trouble with southpaws :)

Question about the Jack match. Was Jack overrated and is the vaunted 141 class overrated? Or is Joey just really on a roll?

Anyone care to guess what Nick Lee's floor/ceiling are going in to post season? TIA.

Don't believe Jack is over-rated. A senior, with past wins over Heil, Meredith, Ashnault (2x), DiCamillo, Kolodzik, Gross, and Carter is quite the resume. Heck, in my mind, he could win it all this year.

I like Nick in the 5-8 range...could be higher, could be lower.

Agree on Jack, he's capable of beating anyone at 141, think he just had a bad day, possibly caught coasting as the finish line approaches in his senior year, coupled with McKenna starting to put it together. If you take assume Jack's loss was more about McKenna wrestling great, Nick's loss to McKenna starts to look more impressive, especially as Nick at least got to McKenna's legs.

I see this weight as a free for all. I believe Yianni is the favorite and the rest can go anyway. I believe N Lee can end up anywhere from 2 to off the podium. Lot's of talent at this weight.

I don't usually jump on the bad ref bandwagon, but this guy was bad,. Martin just pushed Renda OOB without trying to score and he called Renda for stalling when it should have been stalling on Martin. Then in the next match Moore backed right OOB as Machiavelli was trying to score and he called stalling on Machiavelli. Plus, he was VERY quick on calling back points. NATO rolled Fausz thru and total time from the start of the roll to the end was 2 seconds on the clock and somehow he awarded NATO 2 back points.

My exact sentiments. Accurate recap.

I’d like to say i just think McKenna is on a roll, I’m in the camp that says 141 is wide open and anyone in that top 8 range could win it
