Anyone else having problems with items being stolen from tailgates during the game?

We lock up our beer/alcohol and most of the food. But now we have had tables, chairs and other items taken. Ruins the whole experience. A friend who did not go in the game said he saw roaming groups fleecing tailgates after kickoff looking for booze, but also stealing items. What can be done? This is not Happy Valley anymore(?). What a shame.

A relatively inexpensive security tool is a drone. They can cover distance, zoom in on offenders and take photos of them, and relay coordinates to effect arrest.

We put alcohol away. We are down 3 or more chairs from Buffalo game...

I usually rig my stuff with a small explosive—just enough to take off a limb.

What lot is this happening. We leave out tables and chairs. Nothing else. We haven’t had a problem in lot 41.

We had a really nice outdoor rug stolen in the ORV lot last year. Used it only once.

Someone tried to steal our homemade beer pong table. It probably weighed about 75 pounds. we’d fold it in half and slide it under the car before heading in. Someone tried to carry it away during a game and gave up after about 15 feet, leaving it in the middle of the parking lot. This was 2007 or 2008.

I don't think this is a new phenomenon.

Any time items are left unattended anywhere, you risk having them taken. This is yet another reason to watch the games at home and yet, even as I do that, although I live in a very safe neighborhood, when my car is parked in my driveway it is always locked.

Yes. This past weekend in the ORV lot. A tomato pie. Luckily it was an eggplant pie that no one wanted that was on top of a stack of 5 tomato pies from a famous bakery.

There are wandering tribes of students that come through Lot 34 to go down the hill and cross Orchard to head up to their gathering place in the far reaches of Lot 36. We have seen many a student wander through our area looking lost. We usually put away our stuff but left up the tent and chairs/tables for Buffalo and all our stuff was there but typically there is always someone who stays back in that tailgate area.

Lost some good magnets at a ND game, BTW getting stuff stolen is not a F==== joke, it's hurts.

We usually put everything away if no one stays so all I have ever lost was a couple magnets. One thing I do use is a cheap laptop cable lock to secure the grill if it's still hot or chairs sometimes. Most people dont carry bolt cutters.

It's obviously unfortunate this happens, but petty theft has been happening on PSU's campus since forever. The unfortunate truth is that if you don't have anyone not going to the game who would watch things, you are better off locking it up.

What lot???

Sound like the independent consultant firm who developed the parking plan is looking to score a contract extra for game time parking lot security.

Figure 20 lots at 3 guards per lot at 4 hours per game at $60 / hour times 7 games per season.

The site security guys get $11 / hour plus all they can "procure".

Expect parking permits to increase a minimum of $10 per game to pay for this additional necessary expense.

The Board of Traitors obviously have nothing else to do on gamedays, they’ve been stealing for years and years.
