Anyone else think the PSU - Illinois line has moved in a way that...

...suggests bettors believe Clifford is going to play this week? (Opening Line was PSU -17 and has moved to -23.5 or -24 depending on the book). That information could be coming from betting services marketing that he's going to play.... or who knows where, but the way the line has moved suggests bettors are expecting Clifford to play.

No. Just reality we are that much better regardless of the QB.

Have heard from folks I know who go to practices that SC has been doing soft tosses. Maybe that word is out to bettors. These same folks say he will dress but not play against illinois then back for OSU.
I am hoping he is in street clothes on the sideline to keep OSU Guessing and preparing for two QBs.

I doubt that Clifford will play regardless of his health. If he is still hurt, then he doesn't play. If he is well, he doesn't play so that Ohio State is kept in the dark about the starter and so Clifford gets a nice long mid-season rest. Franklin knows he can easily beat Illinois with Roberson at QB. There is no good reason to start Clifford and plenty of reasons not to start him.

No one that’s betting serious money got this game at -17…I have no idea who had it on the board (if anyone) at 17, but they wouldn’t have been taking much. Pinny brought it up at -23.5 yesterday, and it was bet down to -23.

You guys have ALL missed the big boat on this one. The problem is that Roberson is going to kill it at QB and we'll win 56-3,

Cue the QB controversy because TR is going to roll for 170 on the ground and 300 more in the air and the question isn't who starts for osu... it's WHO THE F STARTS?

Buckle up... karma is coming to Happy Valley.

OK... maybe just a leeeetle bit TIC

Well....considering Bielema threw his whole team under the bus in presser maybe all the bettors saw that an reacted. For a coach to literally say to the press we have no one on the 2 deep OL that is doing anything for us and 2 QB's who are transfers and not developed...among other things. WOW! Don't know if they even have a team show up.

+1. At first I thought it was him sandbagging but about 30 seconds later he proceeded to throw the entire team and frankly his coaches as well under the bus. Weird.

Would make sense, I guess, to start Roberson even if Clifford is healthy. If Clifford is able to play and needs to bail out Roberson, he comes in.

I don’t think this line has really moved…but Bielema’s comments would have a negligible impact on it.

Strangely, he also took a shot at the prior coaching staff. He took the job knowing what was there. His last head coaching job was in 2017 and things can change fast. The job is all yours now Bielema. Respect your players and do your best with what you've inherited. Build it. That's what good coaches do.

But Bielema is still living off the reputation he got from the Wisconsin job. Even at that, Alvarez was the real puppet master. BB was very underwhelming at Arkansas. I'm not sure how good a coach he is without someone else doing the backstage work.

Bielema was, is, and always will be pure buttweed. Finger pointer of a higher magnitude.
But hey, the way Wisky is going, he might find his way back to his own green pastures. Then he can quit on this rebuilding project that won’t happen with him there.

In case anyone was wondering.

Are you confident in the tendencies of bettors?

PSU had better have their guard up against Coach Clown Boy. If you thought Iowa played dirty last week, Saturday could very well pale in comparison.

I hope Clifford doesn’t play (or dress) against Illinois. Play R and V, and win anyway. Then it leaves tOSU guessing about who will start on the 30th.

Probably because you’re a Pitter. You exposed yourself awhile ago.
You caught me…if I don’t see everything through ridiculous blue and white glasses, I have to root for another team.

The hit on Clifford couldn’t have been cleaner…if living in reality makes me a Pitt fan, then go Pitt I guess.

But, but, but, the change in cadence will throw off the OL and there will be beaucoup false starts if that happens! I heard it here.

Maybe Bulimia boy wants to get fired.

As it becomes clearer by the day that Cliff will be available to play Saturday, it is uncanny how the betting lines anticipated this information prior to Ciff participating in practice. Betting lines are often guided by information provided through betting line services.... it's almost like they have local moles able to obtain this inside early information.

Again, and @Grant Green, please correct me if I’m wrong…this game was never actually -17 at anyplace that was taking substantial (or maybe even any) money this week. The line has barely moved since it came up at most places.

Not to mention that if there was info available on Clifford, those that had it wouldn’t be messing with the board early on Sunday when they can barely get anything down.

You are a true board LEGEND!

I used to be able to trace these things back to a look ahead line or a bad BOL opener, but I don't know where they come from these days. Maybe some rogue book somewhere? I didn't see -17 at any credible books on Sunday.

You should say/type fewer things.

Line suggests that Cliff starts this game. If we get out to a comfortable lead early, they pull him. But imho, Cliff starts if he's cleared to play consistent with the betting line.
