Anyone have seats in the South Upper Deck? How do you like them?

I'm thinking about getting some tickets in the south upper deck and wondered what people think of those sections. Those are seats rather than bleachers, right? Does an increased comfort level make up for a lesser view? TIA

That's where I sat before I gave up my seats. Liked the view- could see everything develop in front of you. All are chair back seats so no fighting for bench room and no knees in your back. ;)

Had them since the section opened. I was tired of them, so I just moved downstairs for this coming season. It's nice having your own seat, but I felt very removed from the game. To me, the extra cost does not support the return value. One note of caution, you have to time your visits to the men's room well. The lines can be very long. It takes a long time to get out of the stadium at the end of the game.

Sat there once before getting my season tix. Nice view and nice having your own seat. But, is going to get cold up there during the winter months.

I sat up there a couple of times, normal seats are in NEU.
It was ok and much like NEU you could really see the plays develop.
Like another poster mentioned the lines for the restroom are really long and the wind can be fierce.
But what I absolutely hated about it was the sound system, I think I lost 35% of my hearing from it.
Maybe its better since they upgraded the sound system but that was HUGE issue for me.
I prefer NEU.

Sat high in the middle three years ago.
Pros: Comfortable seats; QB perspective (or reverse) of field but with sight line advantage of height; potential shade for early hot game days.
Cons: Can't hear/see Blue Band or student cheering below; cold NW winds blow at you in late season combined with minimum warming sun.

In the real world, the horseshoe (end-zone) seats are the worst in any stadium. Why were the suites built between the goal-lines? Duh, better angle to view the game. After the 50 yard line, end-zone is the worst seats. Yes, 50 yard-line is bad because you are always 30 to 50 yards away from the real action. How many plays are run between the 40 yard lines?

I'm in the center of the south deck in the lower rows. It may be higher than some people prefer but it's a huge difference from being in the upper rows. For me it was a good trade off to have the chair back seats but that's a personal preference. However, if I didn't luck out and get the lower center location I likely would have stayed where I was.

My biggest issue was always the long time to exit the stadium.... so if you like to stay to the final whistle, be prepared to wait a while...

Considered it briefly...until we realized that the view of the full student section added to the game day experience.

Sat in SUJ for a season....very near the top. Great perspective to see the plays developing if you a real fan of the game.
Seats are much more comfortable than bleachers.
Downsides as others have cited: long hike up there being the most noticeable,,,they really should have put escalators going to the top. Bring binoculars!

Sat up there for two seasons. If you get seats there, a few things to know:
1. Take binoculars. You're pretty far removed from the action but can see the plays developing very well.
2. The P.A. system is deafening. Earplugs are recommended.
3. Long walk up those ramps and up the stands (my seat were four rows from the top) Hope you're in shape.. Long walk back after the game too.
4. Yes, the seats are great compared to sitting on the benches down below.
5. Awfully dark up there for night games.

I had season tix there for a few years when the deck first opened. My wife did not like not being able to see/hear the Blue Band and the student section. Her favorite part of the game day experience is the pageantry. Moved down to the lower bowl and haven't looked back.

Had 4 in the first row of SGU when the deck first opened. With the angle of the sun during day games, that section was soon shaded and cold/windy.

Like others noted, that section limits hearing of the BB, so game day atmosphere isn't what it is for those in lower sections.

With STEP, we were able to move to sideline seats and haven't missed the south deck.
