CJF mildly protested, but my take is that money not just talks; it rules. Coach Lovie Smith is a class act and I hope he gets the Illini turned around. Prime time exposure even on a high school football night can’t hurt. Only time will tell if it can help what has been a floundering program for more years than I would have ever thought possible.

Even though I no longer have season tickets, I say absolutely no Friday home games, never! But, I’m not opposed to a Thursday or Friday away game now and then if it ads some pizazz to an otherwise ho hum opponent.

I don’t recall CJF protesting at all. As I remember, he said that he understood the benefit to other programs, but he indicated that it wasn’t something that Penn State wanted to do.

Well, Penn State has already announced that they will not participate in hosting any Friday night games, that happened last fall when the Big Ten Conference announced that they will be playing 6 games on a Friday night. Michigan and Northwestern also objected, and subsequently, so did Ohio State.
