Appears CJF & Co were spot on about QB - looks like there will be zero dropoff when Stevens in game.

In the preseason, Coach Franklin said the QB was very close. It has been obvious what he was talking about whenever Tommy Stevens has been in the game with the 1s (including during B/W Game) that there is very little dropoff in the effectiveness of the Offense when Tommy is in the game.

This is really a big deal, especially for a team like PSU running RPO as the probabilities that your #2 QB may see the field is significant.

QB will not be an issue for years to come with Stevens, Zembiec and Clifford. All that with Trace having 2 years left. Spoiled.

Exciting to watch Trace play and just as much so with Stevens in the game. It's going to be more exciting next year with basically the same guys but with a year more of experience. Franklin is recruiting some studs that will ensure a steady stream of replacements to those graduating. This season's success so far has to be turning some heads in the next class of recruits. Combine that with the incredible insanity of 107 thousand fans cheering on at the White Out games and it is easy to see how the visiting recruits have to be impressed.

What I can't figure out is why Clifford would even come here. Or if he does, why a guy like Zembiec doesn't leave. Some of these kids aren't going to play here as much as they could elsewhere. We are awfully young at the QB position.

Makes you wonder why a kid like Jalen Hurts would go to Alabama. Betcha Kevin Sumlin is wondering the same thing.

Don't elite teams take a QB and a RB every recruiting cycle?

They do, but I'm surprised that kids jump into those situations. You could look at Wimbush as being an example of that.

Some kids can change positions if the situation dictates. QB's don't seem to do that very often. Aside from the usual platitudes about how great competition is, and how the strong survive, etc, it seems strange to me that kids that every single school wants will still be willing to sign at a place that has a bunch of QB's already that every single school wanted.

Trace is a natural leader....his teammates seem to believe in him 110%. I hope Stevens has a similar character makeup.

Wimbush didn't jump into anything.

He was pushed in.

I'll take Trace, Tommy, Jake, AND Sean over Wimbush every day and twice on Saturday.

It worked out just fine. The BS of course is that shills like Wimbush's coach are in existence.

I have not seen enough of Stevens throwing to compare him to Trace. I believe he is a bigger, more dangerous run threat.
The decision - making speed is the thing that is hardest to assess without significant game experience, and that's the biggest difference over last year.
