Lucky 4th down play by ASU with 1:56 to go to keep the ball rather than give it back to UDub at the 45 (when the UDub offense was getting into a groove).

I guess Brian Griese needs to rethink his rankings. ;)

That's what I like about these arrogant pundits; as soon as they make these definite statements, they are proven to be wrong.

There are 8 undefeated teams left in college football:
Alabama
Penn State
Georgia
Wisconsin
TCU
South Florida
UCF
Miami

USF plays UCF this week, so it will be 7 after that. Note: There are now zero undefeated teams in the Pac 12, so at THIS point, the Pac 12 is on the outside looking in, and if TCU falls soon, and they will, the Big 12 will also be outside the door. What we want, is for two conferences to be shut out, opening the door for two Big Ten teams to get in. This covers our bases. I don't think Georgia is going unbeaten before they get to Alabama. They have Florida this week and that is a rivalry game.

Still too early. Mid season point now heading to game 7. Michigan next, that is all. Hell, if everyone in the ACC loses two, I'd say we might even be a lock at 11-1.

The moral is: Chaos is good. Chaos clarifies. Chaos separates. Chaos helps Penn State, as long as Penn State stays the hell away from the chaos. The Michigan win was good. This week we pick up our first win over a ranked team. In two weeks, when Iowa enters the rankings, we'll have two of them.

Irony of all Ironies: Pitt hurt us last year by beating us, and Pitt is hurting us this year by laying over and playing dead for every opponent they've played SINCE us.

I like that right now they don’t feel we are in their top 5. Let us fly below their radar.

Exactly. Plus Griese' comments today (and frankly the way he delivered them) are perfect for the PSU bulletin board this week.

He was cock-sure of his comments, and made them not once but twice! Somebody get the clips and pin them on this board.

Your math is a bit off. USF-UCF will only knock out one team, not two. So 7 left undefeated if all the rest win.

True. Ive eliminated both USF and UCF from playoff contention because no group of five team is getting in. Among the unbeatens, it's a 6 team battle now.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR MATH...8 UNDEFEATED TEAMS WITH 1 LOSING=7, NOT 6.

UCF and USF play on the Friday after Thanksgiving!

And one of them will lose, correct?

Could be wrong, but I think that his point was that they play at the end of the season, rather than this week as BM suggested. Either way, one of them will lose, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if both of them have one or more losses by the time they play

Don’t forget Notre Dame. Should they win out, (unlikely) there will be a big push for them as well.

...Notre Dame has probably lost more Bowl games in the last 20 years than any other major college team because Bowl promoters want them, even when their record doesn't warrant them being in the more lofty bowls... it's all about the $$$s... for the Bowl ...

I gather you are looking at this as we may lose to OSU and this would be how we still get in to the Play Off.

Couple a points to bring up, assuming we lose to OSU.

1) OSU goes on to beat Wisconsin, you are assuming that they would take us over Wisconsin the Conference runner up. Like last year when they took OSU without being in the Conference championship. There are problems with that assuming they would take us over Whiskey. That's not guaranteed.

2) if Wisconsin pulls out the win over OSU, then we have issues as well as I don't think the committee would leave out OSU and pick us. You all know the arguments they will come up with to explain that.

Sadly, I unfortunately do not believe that the committee will give PSU the benefit of the doubt if we have 1 loss no matter when that loss occurs.

Win out control your own destiny, don't rely on other teams or the committee. That's what I want to see.

If we stumble and lose a game along the way, then let's figure out what happens and what are chances are at that time. We needed help last year to get into the championship game. I don't want to need help to get into the playoff this year.

Win and we are in! The way things are set up now it's other teams that need help to try to get in. We can beat all the teams on our schedule.

Focus on Michigan right now.
