Articles for Friday ...

Interesting quote, from the Twin Cities article. It appears that the redshirt was agreed upon during the recruiting process.

Hall’s performance over the weekend shows he likely would be right in the mix to win an NCAA title this season had he not redshirted, but this was the plan Hall’s father suggested for him back during the recruiting process, and Hall seems set on sticking to it.

“When my dad told me he wanted me to redshirt, I was like ‘Yeah, that’s cool,’ ” Hall said. “It wasn’t an adjustment for me. It was just going with what he thought was best for me and what coaches thought was best for me and just kind of rolling with that. I’ve been pretty good at being able to trust my coaches and trust my dad and things like that.”

Gotta believe some of this comes from the fact Snyder won a World Championship while still wrestling in college. To a lesser extent how Jaden Cox performed. Wrestling isn't like football, basketball where there is a pro league that you can be in for a few years and make millions. Eventually most wrestlers have to get a real job so a college degree means something. Wrestling is an incredibly demanding sport so having 5 years to complete a degree helps that.
