("I would go on record as saying hiring Cael was the greatest hire of any institution in the history of college sports,'' Ryan said about Penn State coach Cael Sanderson.

Then Ryan blamed the conditioning of his team for the loss, and kind of threw a couple of his wrestlers under the bus. Got to love it.)

Well, at least Ryan didn't blame Average Officials for the 133 match.

Found this interesting (from the PennLive article):
"Hunter is healthy, it's just a matter of training,'' he said "He's been down for 16 months, your body atrophies. We brought him back against Indiana and we thought he was better fit than he was and he's not ready so why put him out here?''

Translated: Zain would've ripped Hunter's arm off and beat him into submission with it.

Gotta love that CDT article, 'Wrestling the right way' draws crowd, wins for No. 1 Penn State. Tons of great quotes, especially from Cael, that capture what the "Pennsylvania Style" is all about. Cael's quotes say it all.

From GoPSUSports.com

The announced crowd of 15,983 is the second largest crowd in Penn State history (15,996 vs. Pitt on 12/8/13) and the third largest in NCAA history (behind that dual and Iowa's 42,287 held in Kinnick Stadium this year on 12/13/15). Penn State has now wrestled in front of 30 of 31 sell-outs at home, including three of four in the BJC (and 27 straight in Rec Hall).
======

Congratulations to the Nittany Lion Wrestling Team, the Coaches and the Athletic Dept staff for putting on a marvelous event!

And thanks to the nearly 16,000 fans who supported all of their hard work and excellent results, by attending the 3rd largest wrestling event in NCAA history!

From the Eleven Warriors article:
"While the Penn State crowd was critical of Jake Ryan for looking to negate his opponent’s offense at 157, they changed their tune when Morelli utilized the same tactics and applauded his defense."
Comparing how Ryan and Morelli wrestled is laughable. One stalled, head on the mat and clinging to a front headlock in full backpedal mode to avoid engaging a superior, active wrestler who was busting his butt to try for maximum team points. The other showed good defense, took some shots of his own, and wrestled smart against a far superior wrestler who showed little urgency, confidence or ability (not sure which to think it is - and who am I to say) to get his team the team points they needed.

Personally I'd compare Morelli's approach to Myles Martin's approach...the Jordan/Morelli match was nowhere close to the Ryan/Nolf match!
