Regarding the Wrestling Classic/Dapper Dan, has anyone heard why Zach Hartman is wrestling at 152 and not State Champ William Evanitsky? Is Evanitsky injured or was there a scheduling conflict? It's such an honor, it's strange that a kid might choose not to...although that certainly also is a possibility.

Regarding the Wrestling Classic/Dapper Dan, has anyone heard why Zach Hartman is wrestling at 152 and not State Champ William Evanitsky? Is Evanitsky injured or was there a scheduling conflict? It's such an honor, it's strange that a kid might choose not to...although that certainly also is a possibility.

Don't know why not Evanitsky ... but if he passed, then IMO the next choice should've been 152 AA finalist Justin McCoy, who is (1) at the same weight, (2) a returning state champ, (3) nationally ranked. Hartman is none of these.

(For all I know, McCoy was called and declined ... but I find it hard to believe both Evanitsky and McCoy declined.)

What Hartman is, that Evanitsky and McCoy are not, is from Pittsburgh. IDK if that was why he was chosen, but decisions like this add to the perception of taking local guys first.
