Articles for Thursday

A bump, as I added an article from the Daily Collegian and an article from the Minnesota Daily to the links

Rivalry is NJ's favorite word when it comes to PSU. You have to beat somebody once in a while for a rivalry to form. It's been almost 30 years since RU beat PSU in a sport I care about, and it looks like it may be another 30 before the next win happens.

Even in basketball, RU has an under 40% win percentage against PSU - which is hard to believe. Most inept state school athletic department in the country.

Rutgers should be able to have/build a decent wrestling program. Jersey is a very good wresting state. Rutgers is obviously easy drive from central/eastern PA. So access to quality wrestling is definitely there.

How about if I turn Suriano on his head, why would people from central/ eastern Pa. want to be with people from there.

What an ugly thing to say.

Typical Rutgers -- sorry, Perennial Top Five Rutgers -- full of bravado right up until PSU arrives.

Is the joke that the cowardly football player failed to successfully get out of bounds to stop the clock? (I assume he failed.)

No, it's that he went into full retreat.

And that retreating got him mauled by 5 guys, when he could've sidestepped out of bounds untouched.

Look closer. He actually starts running the other way.
Yeah. That’s all I saw at first and laughed at. But then I started to overthink it and thought, well, with a minute left in the game and many yards to go and since it’s only 2nd down, then maybe losing yards is okay if it helps him get out of bounds to stop the clock. Then I noticed that maybe he failed to get out of bounds ...

Overthinking ruins the experience, though. I should just enjoy the truly hilarious first impression of cowardice!

We'll have to check in on the Asbury Park Press post match....to see what they have to say about the rivalry then. :)

Ah yes! I hadn’t noticed that he could have made it had he not “froze”. I can’t believe it took me so long!

Probably they’ll say something akin to “glorified former national champions narrowly escape”. :)

Goodale loses whatever speck of respect I ever had for him every time he opens his mouth in the media.

pretty sure this is the play where the QB panics and tries to back up behind the LOS (which is 5 yards behind him) and throws an incomplete pass (hard to see in the clip). he gets flagged. we intercept to clinch the game 2 plays later.
