Dallas zero Super Bowl appearances the past 30 years
Detroit zero Super Bowl appearances
Miami zero Super Bowl wins the past 50 years
Minnesota zero Super Bowl wins
New York Jets zero Super Bowl appearances the past 50 years
The Chargers zero Super Bowl wins
The Raiders zero Super Bowl wins the past 40 years

Pretty interesting graphic.

If you look at it, you'll see that the last 25 years have been dominated by KC, NE, PItt, NYG, Tampa and the Ravens. 17 of the last 25 to be precise. The Raiders have been moving all over the west coast and LV so it is hard to find consistency and continuity. The Browns foundation was bad and is still bad (ownership). Same is true of the Cowboys under JJ (although he's made a ton of dough). Buff, Cincy, CLE, Detroit are all nasty cities to play in with zero recent history of success. It is hard to build a program.

One can also look at this by QB. Brady and Mahomes have won ten championships in 25 years. Add in the two Mannings and Ben (Steelers) and that brings that total to 16. Its a QBs league and that is why teams sacrifice the entire franchise to get "that guy".

Most Surprised Mike McCarthy wasn't fired on Monday.

Of course there are a lot of factors, quarterback being one very important one. Notice the history of the Patriots without Brady. Ownership is another. Ownership sets the tone for the whole organization. Most of the winners are well run football operations. Most of the losers are poorly run, as Obliviax says not considering profits. Minnesota and Buffalo are outliers. The odds of their great teams losing every Super Bowl appearance didn’t even out.

Least surprising to me is the Jets not appearing in the last 55. They have to be one of if not the worst run franchise's in NFL history. And this comes from a Jets fan of over 50 years.

It has to be the Cleveland Browns.

From 1950 - 1965 (pre Super Bowl era) the Browns were 4-4 in NFL Championship games including winning their last NFL
Championship the year before the first Super Bowl.

And then - Nada.

Without a doubt Buffalo not winning one during the Jim Kelly era is the most surprising. Those were some really good teams. They played in three in a row, and could have won one, two or all three, including wide right.

I think they could have only won one. And that was against the NY Giants who were playing with their backup QB.

Besides that they were getting throttled.

The gap from AFC to NFC during those years was huge. Until the Broncos won it was the NFC championship that determined the SB

Also, they lost four in a row. One close and three laughers.

Rams had 2 SB wins in there, as well - just different logos, so you may have missed it.

Vikes and Bills are tied for the most Super Bowl appearances without a win (4), so I'd say it's most surprising either of them haven't won 1. Crazy to get there that many times and not have it roll right for you, time after time.

Most interesting thing, to me, is that 9 year gap of no Super Bowl wins for the Brady/Belichick-led Pats, bookended by 4/5 years of SB domination. I know there were 2 more SB appearances (and losses) in there in that 9 year stretch ... but it's crazy to think how a QB and coaching duo could stay together that long, and have two separate stretches of domination separated by that many years of "futility" ... imagine Mahomes and Reid disappearing from the win column for basically a decade, and then popping back up for another stretch like they've had recently.
