All our goals are still in front of us...MAKE DEFENSIVE CHANGES. GET 11 ON THE FIELD AND BENCH 43. MOVE 99 TO STARTER.

Actually, it essentially is. We aren’t beating Ohio state, and thus we aren’t going to the Big Ten championship. Therefore we have, yet again, failed on all 3 of the football season success metrics:

1. We were routed by UM
2. We will lose to O$U (NO one has any confidence that this coaching staff has a devout nun’s prayer of figuring out a way to beat Ohio State - not after today’s performance)
3. We will not win the conference championship.

in other words, the season will be a total failure, much like 2021. And 2020.

Franklin simply cannot get it done, as he continues to demonstrate season after season.

This was never going to be an undefeated, compete for the title season. We can still win 9 games, which after last year, represents significant progress. Unlike the miserable old men who would like to blow it all up, I believe we can still get better.

Despite today’s hideous performance, the future is bright. Our O Line is improving with more great recruits on the way. We still need some beefy, run-stopping DTs. We’re getting there.

Why in year 9 are your expectations not higher?
You realize we have 2 weeks before Ohio State, right?
We had an extra week to prep for Michigan and we saw what happened.

Again, it is our fault - we’re miserable and old. We should be joyous, right? Nothing says satisfaction like watching our beloved alma mater get thoroughly humiliated in front of a national TV audience. Totally out- physicalled and out coached - after 2 weeks to prepare no less.

cant help you on the old part - it’s the price you pay for staying alive. As I tell the young people at the gym - I’ve been you, but you have a hell of a lot of living to be me. I hope you make it.

The originator of this thread has a myopic viewpoint, in addition to tragic ignorance regarding Coach Franklin and Penn State football - we aren’t supposed to be physically dominated. That is due to a fool of a head coach that recruits vertical jump and weight room heroes that can’t make plays to win football games.

They will rationalize us missing the 12 team playoff. Sanctions?
The refs hate us
The Big Ten hates us
The people on the committee have a vendetta against Joe despite the fact he's been decade for years
Ohio State Michigan and (then) USC cheat
We do things the right way and therefore don't have to actually win games
What did I miss....

We are not improving our line play. You cannot make that statement. The future is not bright until we can demonstrate that we can block up front and not get run all over by a quality power oriented team.

Look, today was horrible. That said, you don’t think the O Line is better than last year? I disagree.

At this rate by the time they get to approaching average they’ll graduate and we’ll be back to hearing how the line is young and needs more time. ;)

Not against good quality teams. We looked better this year against weak competition so maybe a slight, inconsequential improvement because we were bad last year against Nova and Ball State.

If we are honest, we really weren’t much better on the OL vs Central Michigan and Northwestern. Yes, we have better backs that can mask the problem against inferior talent, but you can’t just outrun the better teams.
