At what position do you think Matthias Barnwell will be developed?

His video highlights from 2021 show a big kid who is athletic and light on his feet. The problem is that half of those highlights come at a position we're almost certain he won't be playing: TE. He has the frame and athleticism to grow into an OT. He would be a good bet for Tackle eligible formations too. I don't think he is quite fast enough for DE but may have the quickness to grow into a tall DT along the lines of Jared Odrick. The staff will figure it out even if we don't!

I'm leaning towards DT.

I tend to agree he won't play TE but he could be another Darnell Washington (Georgia)--about the same size.. In the video he does an amazing job catching the ball with his hands and not letting it get into his body.

Barnwell could easily put on weight to be a DT/OL though.

Not to my knowledge. His highlights are at TE, WR, and DL.

At one time, the kid had an interest in being a TE in college. I think the concern was he was outgrowing the position, which made him an ideal OT candidate based on his athleticism.

Maybe someone will show him what NFL OTs make. I know OL doesn't sound sexy for an athlete but if you have great feet and the size to be an OT, you are well compensated.

Top tackles are indeed well paid. But they don’t get the glory so many desire. Best way to get a kid to make that move is show him the odds of making it to the NFL is to move to tackle. Just getting there is a huge motivator.
