B1G tournament public on sale date - 10/18

I was hoping that with the Bigs so close and with the awesome relationship that PSU and Rutgers have that PSU would buy up a block of seats and sell them to PSU faithful;)

All of the tickets? Thanks for buying - we owe you one.
that's awesome ... I'd love to buy the world a coke, but I'm on a fixed income ...

I'm able to see that 4 seats were purchased, the $50 level, so I'm not in the nose bleeds ... and I have parking both days

Word on the Rutgers cricketfest is that 4600 of the 6200 seats have been sold to Rutgers season ticket holders. Each other school is getting an allotment of 100 seats from the Scarlet Knights.

And those seats will all be in the nosebleeds, according to the biggest insider there.

Wonder what will happen when no Rutgers guys are wrestling on Sunday.

Tom Ryan says "that's not the way we would have done it".

I called Rutgers and they literally have ZERO information.. They wouldn't even tell me what time the tickets will be going on sale on Friday and claimed there are no team specific sections.. They are clueless.. and sound like they bit off more than they could chew with hosting this..

They'd have trouble hosting a bake sale. They never should have been allowed to a) host B1Gs at the RAC since it's too small for the event and/or b) sell about 75% of the tickets to season ticket holders.

It should have been held at the Prudential Center in Newark. At least there, people could walk over to the Ironbound for Spanish/Portugese or Brazilian food and the ticket situation wouldn't be as ridiculous.

But it's Rutgers.

I also called today, and "Nick" said they go on sale the 24th... he thinks. Wondering now if I said "Yes, I am a season ticket holder" if he would have even figured it out.

Here's what the top insider said:

"Kole
Yes your 8 should be in the 200 section. The general public Sale of tickets will most likely be in the 300’s."

If he's correct, and he likely is, this is what the "general public", the Rutgers' term for all other programs/schools, is looking at:

https://scarletknights.com/sports/2017/6/11/tickets-seating-rac-html.aspx

I've been there and, frankly, would never sit in the 300s. It's terrible. So Flo it will be, even though the RAC is 45 minutes away from me.

Last year at Minnesota when people called for team seating they were told there was none. A few weeks later they released team seats. The student workers they have selling tickets probably have no idea what the plan is. If I had to guess Rutgers will have some sort of team seating in place but it will be very limited with the RAC only having room for 8,000 people.

Maybe the biggest insider is clueless, too, because he had the capacity at 6200, whereas I believe your quoted 8000 is correct. Here's hoping - but I am not going to give them money for seats in the 300s.

I am only half-clueless :);), but know for a fact some of what's in this thread is incorrect. That's not much, though I can't say more … there will be disappointed fans.

I just spoke to Rutgers athletic ticket office. The rep sounded like he knew what he was talking about...

Thanks for getting and sharing that info. Good job, Rutgers. Your usual high level of performance has been achieved.

I strongly advise against buying seats in the 300, much less "upper" 300, sections. I know I won't be. It's a miserable enough experience for a dual meet. For a tournament ....

Any chance you want to go to the RAC to watch RU's home matches? I have 2 season tickets, 213 Row Q, Seats 1/2 ... I don't think I'll be attending any matches, I bought them so I could buy Big 10s --- I have a parking pass for each event as well

Is it the view? the actual seats? what about it is so bad.. just asking so I can decide what I want to do as well..

I was wondering the same thing. Since it was only an 8000, or so, seat arena I assumed they can't be that far from the action.

Thank you, but no thanks.

Seats and views. The RAC is a weird venue. The upper 300s are really close to the ceiling and hence very stuffy. In addition, the seats are really uncomfortable. And despite the size of the place, those seats feel really far from the action.

I was at the Final X event and sat in the first row of section 215. I would equate that to standing somewhere behind the track at Rec Hall in terms of the view. Probably same level of comfort as upper in Rec Hall.

The 300s start about at the bottom of the flags in this photo.

Here are some snippets from the Rutgers board:

"Is the view still pretty good from the first ten rows in the 200 level? YES!

200 level seats are padded seats. Sit anywhere there and don't sit in 300s!

I don't get how The RAC will have 8.000 seats with 4 mats down ( not possible without pushing back sections 108,109 and 110 if thats possibe). This is not going to be a good venue for this tournament plain and simple. It's just way too small and it will be a sell out. It's not a venue that you would want to spend a 4 hour session in and nowhere to walk around. It's going to be a bad look for RU. JMO

Put the Iowa fans in the 300 level seats"

That should give you some idea of what to expect.

I think the 6200 capacity comes from the fact that in order to get 4 mats on the floor of the RAC, they need to lose some seats.

“You have reached a number that is not currently set up to receive calls”. Rutgers. Ugh.

Nothing but 300s available from the opening gun. Pass. When I was in grad school at Rutgers, there was much talk about the "Rutgers screw". Now every wrestling fan in the B1G other than Rutgers season ticket holders gets to experience it. "You people from other schools - up in the rafters".

got my two for somewhere in the 300s. figuring worst case scenario is my wife doesn't let me go to this AND olympic trails, i'll be able to offload these to some other PSU fans

Worst case scenario is you go and sit in the 300s.

There are plenty available in the 300 sections. Less closer to the middle, entire sections available on the edges. I'll pass and wait. No need to hurry.

Well I guess 300 section it is. Just another reason Rutgers shouldn't be hosting anything. 80.00 plus 10.00 handling plus 50.00 for parking. Ticket agent was nice and basically said all lower section tickets went to season ticket holders, minus a few choice tickets saved for each school most likely parents and administrators. I've been going to Bigs for a long time and have never gotten bad seats until this year
Section 304 row k seats 5 and 6

Wait until you see the glory of Piscataway and then climb up to the nosebleeds. Wear layers, because it could be brutally hot up there.

I hope Rutgers comes in dead last in the tournament after the way they handled this.

I have been to the RAC in 300 for EIWA it's not as bad as you say.But I would expect most on here know your hate for Rutgers and take it worth a grain of salt.Fans will be happier in the 300s then they would be at home.

Holy cow, stop already.

For those that are joining me and my friends (lots of them), let's go and make the absolute best of this that we can. Show up, support the Lions (even from afar), and enjoy the experience. Stay positive.

Reading the Rutgers forum it appears that after their season ticket holders received their first allotment they then were allowed to buy up to 8 more (all in the 200 sections). That is much like we do for BJC matches. However those are home dual meets not a conference tournament. They sent 100 to each Big 10 school and kept the rest (100&200 sections) for themselves. Sounds like they want to pack it with their fans. Very curious to see how many go to secondary ticket markets. Not how I would have done it.

I'm not the one who posted about the 300s on the Rutgers forum and said not to buy tickets there. I'm not the one who said the view was good in the first ten rows of the 200s (and, by inference, not above that). Those were people who *love* Rutgers wrestling.

I've been in the RAC since 1978 for various events. I would never sit in the 300s.

I was planning on skipping out on Nationals this year but going to BigTens and Olympic Trials. Based on what I am reading in this thread, I may not be making it to Bigs either. Thats too bad, always nice when you only have a couple hour drive to an event like that. Stadium is just too small, 15k arena would of sold out.

304, Row C, 15-16.

Can't wait.

Section 303 Row D, 1-4 and Row E, 1-4. On Sunday it should be easy to move down to the 200s as only a handful of Rutgers wrestlers will still be alive. I expect they will have anywhere from zero to four wrestlers place in the top 8, and none above 5th place.
