Barkley leads the B1G in rushing

if I am reading the stats correctly, SB now has 1964 career rushing yards

he is currently ranked #18 all time for Penn State

the next guy up? Franco Harris at 2002

Bates showing super athleticism on this play.....he just literally did not touch anyone on Purdue, which is not a criticism of Bates, there was no one in the middle of the field for him to hit. I did like how he shielded the last player for PU that could have gotten Barkley without really touching him.

The best block was by the WR at the 38 yard line....not sure who it was, they looked a lot bigger than than the CB and had him pinned against the sideline. Mahon got a good block and allowed Barkley to get to the corner without hooking or holding the defender.

As the line improves, and it is improve and will continue to do so, so will Barkley's numbers and his attention as the best back in the nation. Barkley's the best and Limegrover and his line are becoming his best friends.

Taking nothing away from Barkley, I just loved Bates sprinting down the line with him shielding the tackler at the end.

Looking at the block at the 38 yard line.....it looks to be Godwin and he pushes around the CB allowing Barkley to cut inside him and take it to the house. Godwin held his block for 2-3 seconds which is an eternity for WR to do without holding........

My favorite play of the game, Bates the first to greet SB In the EZ...what an athlete and as mentioned above, didn't get a hand on anyone but ran some shade on a DB. Just awesome 52...

I didn't say Barkley was the only good back in the Big, I said he was the best. Someone is always the best at something, that doesn't mean no one else is good.

Didn't say that you stated that there were no other good backs in the B1G; just took issue w/ you stating that Barkley was the best back by far.

No question great backs... but not barkley

Well, wouldn't disagree w/ that - Barkley is the best back in the B1G and maybe the best back in the nation.

Pretty hilarious Barkley wasn't even listed as top 25 RB coming into the season according to one site. I didn't even see him listed any where as a top back coming into season.

Nor was he one of the top 100 recruits in the nation in the class of 2015 according to Rivals. Those all-knowing gurus had him as the #11 ranked running back, and #111 overall.

I don't think there's any argument. He should and will be All-American.
Also, he should be in consideration for the Heisman.

Barkley may well be the best back to ever play on a Pennsylvania college football team. Better than Curt Warner, Traffic Ticket Tony Dorsett, Kijana Carter, Ironhead Heyward, Blair Thomas, James Connor, etc.

We were all yelling about it at the time. Barkley went to some national camps and dominated. Rivals just kept moving him down. It's what they do to PSU verbals.

He is a once in the lifetime type of back. Enjoy this year and next because we won't see talent like this for a long time

A once in a lifetime back.....That PSU used to pump out year after year after year...Warner to Dozier to Thomas to KJ to....you get the picture

And soon to go by Jon Williams at 2,042, Booker Moore at 2,072 and Zach Zwinak at 2,108.

Just as an FYI Matt Suhey is #10 at 2,818 and Evan "Rolls" Royster is #1 at 3,932 yards.

Barkley could pass Royster next season if he stays healthy. If he keeps up this pace, he'd need about 1500 yards in 2017 to be #1 - I hope he does, too, because there's no way he should come back in 2018.

Whether or not he passes Royster I'd be shocked if Barkley comes back in 2018. I'd love for it to happen, but I'd be shocked.

Downfield blocking often gets overlooked and it seemed like PSU did a good job most of the day. Another example - Blacknall did a great job downfield on the TD to Godwin. The Minnesota game and the week after was when things started to come together. Coming back to win in overtime was a huge confidence boost and the team is riding a wave of "Hey, we can do this" attitude. As much as some people here hate to admit it, coaching plays an important role in that.

I was thinking about this just last night. I think we can see now he was a 5-star recruit in actuality. Either that or Franklin's an even better coach than I think he is.

That's my point. I don't think he should come back in 2018, so I hope he's able to get the record in 2017.
