BAT Signal is up!

very interesting ahead of number 1 qb in 2017 Hunter Johnson's trip next weekend.

Great! But this makes me a little nervous. Did this kid get a tOSU offer? That school is a tOSU pipeline...or it has been in the past.

I have no idea how many scholarships we are going to give out in 2017. I think if you project forward it would be in the single digits right now. But if you look how talented some guys are who are only sophomore eligibility you have to believe not all of them are staying 4 years. Allen, Nelson, Hamilton, Mahon, Godwin, Blacknell, Campbell, Haley. Plus anyone who RS last year. Breneman too.

Why does it matter if he had an OSU offer or not? And I also think St.X is more of a ND pipeline than OSU. Cincy area isn't as OSU as the rest of the state, but I digress.

A standard Pro-Style QB doesn't fit Urban's system, but the kid does have some good athleticism to go with his skill.

What Franklin has done (and is doing) to improve this QB depth chard (Stevens, Zembiac, and now Clifford) is really impressive.

Yes.
Wonder if he will take 2 QB's in the 2016 class. I believe CJF is on record as saying that the program should have 5 scholarship QB's on the roster, ideally. It will take 2 in that class to get there.

Nice to kick off our 2017 recruiting class with a 4* QB. Welcome Sean.

Next we need to cherry pick the best from the WPIAL starting with 5* Lamont Wade.

Agree that Franklin and his staff are doing a good job at stocking up talent all around, and no position is more important than QB.

I take the commitments to indicate a preference for Pro-Style QBs as opposed to Run/Throw guys. Looking for guys that are mobile, but mainly go for the pass.

That style of QB has certainly seemed to be Franklin's preference at the other schools he has coached at. Stevens, Zembiec, and even Wimbush are and we're all very solid passing quarterbacks with varying amounts of athleticism.

No offer from duh-To$u, as they have a commit from another 4 star oh-hi-ya QB....

Clifford reportedly missed significant time last year due to injury, which may mean once healthy that he can show his stuff.... as he must have when he attended the PSU camp a few weeks back.

If you are a top 5 QB, another QB recruit will not scare you off. I expect "if" Hack plans on leaving after this season we will land that top 5 guy !!!
PLUS by getting a 4 star out of Ohio is big, OSU offer or not !!!
Kind of expands our reach, as we should.

Interesting that the QB from Ohio that OSU has committed for 2017 is a 3 star.
No, I'm not saying star rating is everything. Just more fodder for the board :)

You guys have no idea how much I wish this kid was named Paul Clifford so we could do "It was a dark and stormy night" jokes with him.

Notre Dame scares me more than Ohio St. with Clifford. He has yet to be offered by the Irish, but don't discount Franklin's power of persuasion. 2017 could be on the small side and we're in it with so many Rivals 250 kids that space could fill up much quicker than usual.

Sean said the coaches told him they plan to take 2 QBs in the 2017 class, and he's fine with that.

This kid has already played at Lucas Oil Stadium, hope he gets us there in a few years. I bet ND didn't offer him yet so now they can sell themselves big time for #1 Hunter Johnson. They all have 2 years of high school ball left so these rankings aren't set in stone either way.

Welcome to Penn State, Sean Clifford & Family!

Gotta love this kid's attitude:

"It just felt right," Clifford told PennLive. "The coaching staff just fit me. That was the one school that really impressed me and I'm just excited about committing."

"I'm committed, I'm 100 percent. I'm a Nittany Lion forever."

He added that he wants to begin recruiting for Penn State immediately, and will do so by coming back to campus for the weekend with the Lions expected to host a number of highly-touted recruits.

"I want to be there, I want to have a list of names, and go after every single name on that list," Clifford said, "and I want to see commits on the spot there. That's the goal for me, to pick up as many guys as possible."

Clifford is a 4-star that will drop down to a 2-star now that he committed to PSU and NOT Notre Dame.

Afterall, all the world knows ND
never offers a kid that may choose another school and make them look bad.

They are way to classy for that. Look for a sleeping bag to be rolled out on Hunter's porch soon! LOL!!!

He won't be the next commit, but the dominos will fall right in place if we can land Hamlin. #1 Helps us keep Sanders & Hill (they all hit it off in Oregon supposedly). #2 Hamlin and Ford want to play together (supposedly) and #3 and most importantly he's a shut down CB with length. Hill and Hamlin at the corners with Ford in the middle. Yikes.

OK, I admit that I am a real novice when it comes to recruiting. I pretty much never watch recruiting videos. But I just watched Clifford's video that was in the Pennlive article. That was from his sophomore year? And it was against pretty good competition? If so, that was really impressive. And he has two more years in high school to develop. I think we got a really good one.
