Beau Pribula

I just wanted to give a shout out to #9. I was at the game yesterday, and he was fantastic! Not only did that one WR (#12?) flat out drop a wide open TD that landed right in his breadbasket, but on the play just prior to his long TD run, Beau threaded the needle perfectly, hitting the receiver in the head.

TW and DA deserve all the praise they get, but Pribula is starting to really look like a good QB.

Pribula is a much better passer than people give him credit for. And he can run. Won't be a great dropoff in talent when Allar leaves. That said, Allar is a great QB. PSU is very fortunate to have these two guys.

Yes Pribula has played very well when he's relieved Allar.

But I don't understand why Grunk was not in the game for the 4th quarter. There are times when a 3rd string QB is needed due to injuries and illness, and since Grunk has not played at all this season his eligibility for redshirting wouldn't be impacted. Pribula has played and practiced to the point that playing him doesn't seem to be valued added unless the object was to score and make the game look more lopsided to the playoff committee.

With the reports of Grunk's throwing arm and mobility it would seem value added to get him some experience, not to mention keeping him from entering the portal this off season in the event that Allar returns for 2025, no matter how unlikely some here believe that to be......

Beau's ytd stats; 24 of 32 (75%) passing for 262 yards, 4TDs and 1 INT. 28 rushing attempts for 197 yards (7 yards per carry) and 3 more TDs. Those are damn solid stats on his 60 snaps this year (On average, he's put up a TD on every 8.5 snaps he's taken) - he's averaging 7.65 yards per snap taken.

Make no mistake, Pribula still needs work, especially if he slides into the starting role next season.

The thing about him is that’s he improved so much in being a complete qb, and both the coaches and he should be commended for that. I have so much respect for him because he could be starting somewhere, yet playing for PSU means more to him in his current role than starting at some random school that plays in oblivion.

My only question about Allar is how long it takes him to find a receiver. I see top QBs throw quickly before the WR even makes his break. Sometimes downfield but other times just a quick slant. There isn't much separation on those plays, just the half step it takes the DB to react. I saw that when Allar hit Fleming on an 8 yd TD pass to Fleming vs Washington but I don't see it very often.

I can't help but to wonder if our WRs are that bad at getting separation or if the problem is exacerbated by Allar taking that extra half second to make sure is receiver is open. Even yesterday vs Purdue we only had 3 WR catches (Wallace 2, Evans 1). On the 46 yd TD pass to Wallace he was wide open long before Allar threw the ball.

If Grunk comes in and plays really good then you got to worry about another team wanting him lol. Maybe he is injured or something.
