Beer in Quicken Loans

That's interesting. After watching really bad fan behavior by a few fueled by alcohol over the years, mostly at football games, my feelings are mixed about this. What do others think?

Here's the language from the bid packages that go to each city/venue, which it appears would be set aside on a trial basis for some championships;

No alcoholic beverages or nonalcoholic beer may be sold or dispensed for consumption in the competition venue from the time the doors open until 90 minutes after the conclusion of the games and practices, nor shall any such beverages be brought to the competition venue during the championship (i.e., during the period from the time access is available to spectators until all patrons have left the competition venue or area used for competition)
unless otherwise approved by the NCAA.

If permitted by private lease agreement, alcoholic beverages may be consumed inside the private suites. However, alcoholic beverages may not be delivered to private viewing suites on the dates of NCAA practice or competition. Additionally, it is not permissible for alcoholic beverages to be distributed or consumed in the competition venue outside the private viewing suites unless otherwise approved by the NCAA.

As far as the OP's question, I have heard nothing about beer sales inside Quicken Loans.

I was at Msg for B1G BB last week and Barclay Centrer yesterday for ACC tournament and they both had all the bars open..Although $13 for 16 ounze can is BS

I enjoy a beer or eight, but as a longtime NHL season ticket holder I've had enough games ruined by drunk fans to appreciate the absence of beer at events. Maybe if there was a way to limit everyone to two (which, yeah, would almost certainly be possible to circumvent, but making people at least work would cut down on it). At NCAAs there's also the matter of it being split up into sessions, between which many people go to bars and drink. Serving alcohol at the venue affords an opportunity to carry a bender through a full day without pause.

there was beer and alcohol last year in St Louis. I had a seat in the 'bud light zone'... Guess it was contained to a very large area.... regardless, don't the suites have alcohol capability?

I agree w tikk10. I am a big beer drinker but appreciate it not being available at college events. I certainly hit the bars before, during, and after the sessions at NCAAs when I attend, but don't need it during.

Agree too, though I'm no more than a one-beer guy. Seems to be all about the money.

The beer they serve is generally over priced crap... so that should limit how much of it is consumed right up front.. LOL..

Well, it will limit your consumption. Mine too but for a different reason, as no way I am paying $13 (someone mentioned above) for a beer.

Put me in the camp that thinks, make that knows, that serving beer in the venues is not a good idea. There are plenty of drunk people inside Beaver Stadium for football games, but it is NOTHING like NFL games I have been to where they are everywhere. Haven't been to an NFL game in person in over 10 years and I have no intention of ever going to one again.

I think it will be interesting to see how it plays out if they do serve alcohol. Generally speaking wrestling fans skew older and are definitely less intense than say pro sports environments. In a tournament setting you also don't get the us vs them attitude.

Rather than the aggressive negatives often seen at football games I bet the biggest problem would be people getting annoyed by sitting next to the same "loud guy" for such long stretches of time over 3 days.

I'll be stumbling to the evening sessions ... 1/2 mile walk from my fully stocked hotel room to Quicken Loans arena! No need to buy booze in the arena
