When Ziegler walks him through the case, will JZ try to sell him on Jerry's innocence (which will be written off as crazy), or sell him that Joe Paterno should not be pilloried (which should be easy, but much harder if victim-trashing is tossed into the mix as a confusing factor)?
In Ziegler's talks with Bob Costas it's clear that Bob wants to agree Joe is Clear but can't do it because part of the premise Zig presents is that that to believe that you need to also believe Jerry is clear. It's just not the case and turns away so many people that could help rehabilitate Joe's image.
There are already IJPers encouraging Zig to tell the whole story & get Jerry cleared. This is just bad strategy, the absolute worst. Time and time again, there's an opportunity to get facts out to the masses and it's always muddies up with repressed memory & third-hand stories of that time when some victim lied in 7th grade or their Mom drives a nice car. PULLEESE Zig, keep it foxused on Paterno!
