Any good insights for Cleveland? An enjoyable part of NCAAs for us is sampling one-of-kind places and experiences.

Thanks!

Guess it depends on what you are looking for, but a trendy area, two blocks from the arena, is E. 4th street. Michael Symon (celeb chef) has a couple restaurants there (Lola, Mabel's BBQ) and there are a bunch of other places there or nearby. http://www.east4thstreet.com/

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is downtown, but more of a walk.

East 4th is the place to be in between the sessions; lots of good options for food and drink, plus the casino is not too far away either; however on Saturday, that entire area is likely to be a mess due to St. Pattys day. (Based on what downtown and southside of Pittsburgh is like on St. Pattys)

When traveling and looking for food, I turn to Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern. Actually, lots of good ideas here.

Lots of good places on E 4th St, but be aware that's a narrow street that will be very crowded, and those places will likely have long wait times.

If you want to get away but not very far, there's a very nice Italian restaurant just across the river from downtown, under 10 min drive or cab from the arena and downtown hotels. Note, this is a more intimate place for close friends and family, not where you'd take a dozen rowdies who just wanna pound some beers.

Thank you to everyone for their posts; truly appreciate it!

At the very least, it sounds like there should be enough fans on east 4th street to get an answer to what mat Carton/Pletcher will be on.

I asked opinions from Cleveland friends on FB, since I was last there 17 years ago, so I'll drop those recs here.

Friend one:
Go to Greenhouse Tavern on E. 4th. If you like pork, get the half a pig’s head. (If I were in town, I’d meet you there or any of these places.) Then, walk across the street & down the stairs to Society Lounge. Better still, if you have a little more time, The Velvet Tango Room is a short Lyft/Uber away. They mix some of the finest cocktails on the planet—no kidding. Near there, you’ll also find the coolest (I mean that in the off-beat sense) bar in town, The Duck Island Club.

Friend two:
The Velvet Tango Room is not so good anymore. For a fabulous cocktail, go to the Spotted Owl. For easy casual delicious food, try Prosperity Social Club. The Flying Fig in Ohio City (near West side of Cleve) is wonderful and has an amazing brunch.
