Best ending to a sitcom.

Mash and The Office were good. IMHO Friday Night Lights was the best.

Seinfield was the worst.

Loved The Office; didn't know if it would be able to maintain it's appeal after Steve Carrell left, but it stuck the landing (with a little of his help). Would add Parks and Recreation had a touching, and appropriate ending as well.

I would agree with Newhart being the best. The Odd Couple and Mary Tyler Moore are next on my list.
MASH is not only the worst, but I would argue that at that point it wasn’t even a sitcom. There was no comedy in the show by the end. That show ran the gamut from the best sitcom at the beginning to becoming a complete caricature of itself by the end.
I would agree with Seinfeld being the most disappointing, but it plays much better in reruns. I think my expectations for it to be phenomenal made it seem more disappointing than it should have been.

Sorry, but the ending to MASH sucked. There were zero laughs in the whole 3 hour ordeal. We can debate whether it was good TV, but it was a horrible sitcom at the end.
The 1st 3 seasons of MASH... There are still scenes I LOL at even after having seen them 30 times.
Agree on Seinfeld.... Disappointing.

I was one of the few that didn't like the way MASH ended. Too bittersweet for me but I was younger so maybe didn't "get it" as much as I would have if I was older.
Sons of Anarchy was just too dark for me.
Seinfeld's ending sucked.
Endings that "sucked", how about Wonder Years, Kevin and Winnie never married, the father died. The other one that never made sense was Secret Agent with Patrick McGoohan.

Apparently " Kevin" was too busy sexually harassing one of the crew members to give a shit about Winnie....

As far as sucked goes, the ending of "Chuck" was a huge let down...
As far as SOA, the last season or two was so far past jumping the shark it was riduclous, although the last episode was pretty good.

I read recently that Wonder Years was pulled because one of the make up artists accused Fred Savage of sexual harassment. The woman who played the mom said it was BS. The network decided they did not want the publicity and simply pulled the show.

Never heard that, liked the show was so disappointed with the ending. Must be some old guys/gals on here to remember that show.

Scrubs final show i thought was excellent, really tied everything together.

MASH final show I thought was good, i do agree it wasn't a sitcom really in the end, but it was still a good show.

Seinfeld was horrible, and it didn't get better with age, only worse in my opinion.

How was Friends final episode, that show jumped the shark so bad I didn't even watch it the last few years and refuse to watch any reruns.

The sexual harassment accusations / denial are recent, maybe the last week or two. Hit the news under the radar because of all the MSU activity.

I wasn’t that big a fan of the wonder years so I didn’t really follow it.
LOL, nothing On the prisoner made sense.

I read that it was because they have a hard time securing the ongoing rights to all of the music that played throughout the series. That's why it took so long to come to DVD also.

Expanding the topic to dramas, I think the Sopranos ending was the best.

really?? I hated the ending of the Sopranos.

IMO if you are telling a story, then tell it ... dont leave it up to the viewer to make their own conclusions.

I realize that Im probably in the minority with that point of view

The Larry Sanders Show finale was really good. The end of two shows in one episode.

Seinfeld was a big disappointment. A case might be made that this was really the burgeoning of the internet age and the hype—online and in the electronic media—was out of control. I remember online discussions with people indicating they could get the final script in advance of the episode airing.

Not a sitcom. Hoodie Dooty. Damn clown didn’t speak for years,
then Clarabell said, “ goodbye kids.” If I were petrified of clowns it would be for a good reason.
