Van down by the river
Can anyone list some of the better hotel options for NCAA's.
Not into cheap, dumpy places even though I realize I'm mostly just sleeping there.
Convenience is a factor.
Clean and safe is, as well.
And price is always part of the equation.
Any thoughts?

Haven't ever stayed there but I know a lot of Penn State people will be at the Parkway Hotel. My understanding is that it's convenient.

I live in St. Louis.
The Parkway Hotel is nice and the closest one to the lightrail system (metrolink), which will drop you off right at the stadium for wrestling and take you to/from airport. The Chase Park Plaza is a few blocks away from the Parkway (and metrolink) and is a grand old hotel - nicer and fancier with a nice restaurant and bar and a movie theater and gym, but more expensive. There's also a Holiday Inn Express, which is about as convenient walk-wise as the Chase, but not as nice. When we bring people in for work, we put them up at either Parkway or Chase.

There are more hotels downtown, but downtown is pretty dead at night, and the hotels listed above are all convenient to many restaurants and bars in an area called the Central West End.

Hope that helps

The Parkway is very convenient, and is one of the hotels the PSWC is staying at. Its about a 5-minute walk to the Metro, then about 10-min to Scottrade. You might get lucky, but i would guess its sold out by now, as are just about all hotels that are in close proximity to the arena. I booked in May and most hotels within walking distance were either sold out or were going for $300/night or more. My suggestion is to try to find something within walking distance of the Metro between the arena and airport.

The PSWC block at the Parkway is sold out, though they may have other rooms beyond the contract with them. Are you a PSWC member? Sorry for this personal question...

I live in St. Louis and work in the hotel industry and know them inside and out. A couple I'd suggest would be the Holiday Inn Downtown Convention Center on 9th street (about 1 mile from event), Holiday Inn Express Central West End (about 4 miles from event but nice neighborhood w/ lots of restaurants you can walk to) or the Drury Inn & Suites Forest Park Hampton exit of 64/40 (near little Italy section of restaurants know as The Hill).. The Parkway is ok but why pay and not get points like you would at the Holiday Inns?

We stay at the Missouri Athletic Club every year NCAAs are in Saint Louis. Great bar right next door and easy walk to the train.
Stayed there in 2015 when NCAA's were in St. Louis, and made absolutely certain I could get a room there this year as well. Remember to bring a collared shirt and slacks, though, or else you'll be forced to use the freight entrance.

So would dropster get in wearing his red Donnie Iris jacket

I guess then there is no reason not to run into each other this year SetonHall.

If you havent booked a hotel yet, look into Air BnB for a great option. You can stay in fully furnished apartments and houses for cheaper than a hotel. Cant wait for nationals!

Booked a room over the weekend for the Chase. Prices weren't bad compared to many others in the area and looks nice. Has anyone stayed there before?

The Chase is really nice, a bit of a walk from the metro/light rail system, but not too far (about 5 blocks).
I think all their rooms are suites, but I might be wrong about that - grand old style hotel with lots of restaurants, etc nearby.

Dropster...I might not be able to go because I will be in the middle of setting stuff up for a move and my reservations are at the Hyatt Regency at the Arch (its a pretty nice hotel). I should know in a few weeks...if you still don't have one a room by then and I am giving my room up, I'll let you know and we can switch my reservation to you.

AZ - what are you going to do with your tickets?

Chief - thank you for the offer. I do have a place booked already, but maybe someone else on here would like to grab it. The Hyatt Arch location is great! - was there for work a couple of years ago - very nice hotel.

Individuals or needing two, for sure...but not for a larger group that wants to sit together.
True. I went down a few years ago with 5 people and the most we find grouped together for a session was 4. We usually sat 2 and 3. I think I paid under $100 for all sessions combines scalping.

I never stopped to talk to them or ask what they had but at the subway stop at the arena in St. Louis there is always a group of scalpers hanging out together each with a bunch of tickets to sell and they are alternating between saying who WANTS ticket with who HAS tickets to sell.

I live about half a mile from the Parkway. Let me know if any of you are interested in grabbing a drink while you're in town. I have a couple of friends coming from PA and staying with me, so I'll be mainly surrounded by PSU fans anyway. Can't wait!

There's an International Tap House less than a block from the Parkway. At least part of our group will be there Thursday and or Friday night after the sessions for a few beers.

I know it well. I'll hopefully be able to stop in and say high. If you have any whisky fans in your group, make sure to go to the bbq saloon right across the street. Best selection in the midwest

The Hyatt Arch is great. Good location and the bar on the bottom floor will be hopping.
