For the record, England has no official National Anthem. God Save The Queen is the Anthem for the United Kingdom. In polls, the Brits have favored Edward Elgar's Land of Hope and Glory as their choice and I personally prefer it to all those listed except for our own. Here it is, with lyrics.

Canada over France only because I know the words. The scene in "Casablanca" where they sing :La Marseillaise" is spine tingling. The German national anthem is stirring, but I hate what it stands for as Pitt's alma mater.

FLAG.....a personal foul, unsportswoman misconduct.

Aren't you on probation from one or your previous threads about Anna K? You shouldn't be allowed to post for a week let alone throwing a flag. And, as I said before, you want to be a moderator.

I remember many years ago the Rangers had an opera singer from the Met. Robert Merrill? Can anyone help me identify who it was? I believe it was before John Amirante, maybe back in the 1970s. I’d like to go back and try to find some YouTube recordings of him. Thanks

EVERYONE should flag someone who posts Roseanne Barr’s attempt at singing anything, let alone our National Anthem!

If you get the chance go to a blackhawks game. That is how you sing our anthem.

Although I'm USA all the way, I find the Russian anthem hauntingly beautiful.

Catchy tune but the lyrics are lacking IMO (part of it may be lost in translation). It’s really the old Soviet Union anthem with some reworded verses.

Verse 1:
Russia is our sacred state,
Russia is our beloved land.
The powerful strength and the great glory
Are your properties for all the time.

Chorus:
Long live our Fatherland, land of the free,
The eternal union of brothers nations,
Given by ancestors the people's wisdom!
Long live our land! We are proud of you!

Verse 2:
From the southern seas to the polar lands
Spread are our forests and fields.
You are unique in the world, one of a kind -
This native land protected by God!

Verse 3:
Wide expanse for dreams and for living
Are opened for us by the coming years
Our loyalty to the Fatherland gives us strength.
So it was, so it is, and so it always

When I was a kid, I loved having a Canadiens game on TV, because you knew Roger Doucet was coming up with his bilingual version of O Canada. I did get to hear him once, live and in person, when the Flyers did an exhibition vs a Czech team--but he did not do O Canada. Leo Welsh (LEO!), the Blue Jackets anthem singer does the bilingual version as well, and performed it at both the NHL All Star Game in Columbus, and the Baseball All Star Game in Cincy (I had the privilege of attending both).

Israel is almost mournful. It seems to reflect the past suffering of the Jews in the Middle East. It’s like a hymn.

Many great scenes in Casablanca and that one is number one for me.

Used to be able to bring up Jim Cornelison's performance at a Bear's playoff game on Youtube. It's now been blocked out.

Gene Hart was an opera buff from when he was a child. He used to take the bus into Manhattan to go to a matinee at the Met. Lauren was trained as a child singer and btw is a wonderful person. She is a cancer survivor and I once saw her perform at a luncheon/seminar that the Leukemia Society put on at the Warwick Hotel. She was inspirational. She does the national Anthem at Flyers games and I think it’s nice that they kept their connection with the Hart family.

Here’s Lauren doing the Anthem I believe before the outdoor game against the Penguins:
