and still comes off looking like the lightweight! This palm-pressing, RFK reincarnate has little chance of flipping Texas despite a massive infusion of California money. Newsflash to Communist-Democrats: hell will freeze over first before Texas goes Blue.

Key excerpts from the left-leaning Dallas Morning News...

"O’Rourke, with his harder edge, ditched his sunny, positive approach that’s designed in part to pursue the mythical Texas independent voter — which is slightly more common than a unicorn.

For most of his 20-month campaign, O’Rourke barely mentioned Cruz’s name. But with polls showing the incumbent with a 9-point lead among likely voters, the El Paso Democrat knew he has to respond to Cruz’s blistering attacks.

But there wasn't much different about Cruz's approach. He spoke directly to his Republican base, not worrying about the need to reach independents, and he constantly reminded conservatives that O'Rourke was a liberal.

He did so because he has a structural advantage in statewide elections. Even Democrats estimate that at least 850,000 more Republicans vote in general elections than their party.

Though O'Rourke came out swinging, the debate didn't shift the race's political dynamic.

O'Rourke's problem is that he's trying to appeal to Republicans who generally disagree with him on the issues facing Texas. So when he makes his eloquent pitches about ditching party labels and coming together for the common good, it doesn't ring true — not even with his base."
