...if they are scheduled for the BJC why not move it to Rec Hall, which could easily accommodate 4 mats and the limited attendance - if some fans are permitted - as well as being a more intimate atmosphere for the fans...
...”intimate” as in those present being closer to the action on the mats...

I think they should have them at Rutgers again since one third of a mat wasn't visible anyways from one side and there will be very few people watching from the stands. Then they can have them at PSU next year and we won't get screwed on the rotation. You know the Big will screw us in this deal. Just going with past history with PSU and BIG.

How have we been screwed in the past?

Let's see confiscating our bowl money when several other schools have had much worse sex scandals that directly involved students being abused. I could write a book here but if you think they haven't screwed us I won't waste my time.
Lou Anna Simon at Michigan State screaming the loudest about kicking PSU out of the B1G all the while she was aware of Larry Nassar abusing MSU athletes on campus. At least with Sandusky he was no longer a PSU employee. It was so bad at MSU that the women athletes referred to Dr Nassar as the crotch doctor. See Dr Nassar for a shoulder injury and he is inspecting their crotch.

Pretty sure a intimate atmosphere is the complete opposite of what you want. Biggest venue you can get the better. might be one more sister or brother that gets to go because of spacing.

Since every other aspect of the season is a free year, hopefully PSU gets to host BIGs with full stands in the next season or so. Like mentioned above, with BIG management, I doubt it will happen.

The biggest problem with PSU hosting this year is the fact that it would cost them to rent the BJC and have no way for a $ return without fans. It's a lose lose proposition. I won't hold my breath for the BIG to make it up to them

True. I forgot they have to pay to use the BJC. The BIG will add the costs to the bowl money they stole and the school won't ever see a dime.

It has already been stated that PSU will host again in a few years, not the full 14 it would take for a full rotation of sites but also not next year, probably because of already announced locations.

I understand Rec Hall is not an option. Max occupancy is tied to the area of a facility. Rec Hall is just too small for the combination of competition area, and space away from the competition area for 14 teams to set up their base.

I have it from a reliable source that the Big Ten is committed to bringing the conference tournament back to Penn State early. He did not know the exact year, but I had the impression it would be sooner than later.

I call BS on this. Nationals have been held in Rec Hall. Without spectators, there is plenty of room for team to spread out.

Nationals in 1968 is irrelevant to the discussion. The limit for the BJC was 500 people (not sure who or what mandated that), and that includes wrestlers, coaches, trainers, medical staff, ref, table officials, etc. Leaves a little wiggle room to let family members in. Rec Hall is less than half the capacity of BJC so maybe they allow 200 people. Doesn't work as each team would have 10 wrestlers, 3 coaches, trainer, medical staff and now you are already at 210 people before refs, table officials, etc. Just doesn't work in Rec Hall.

South Gym is also available for teams to use and PSU can set up shop in there own complex. Not everyone has to be in Rec Hall all of the time.

Why the rush to do it in such a disjointed manner when they could wait a few years and have it done right?

Exactly. If we cant get in, let it go....let it go...let it go

Now if it doesnt come back that....that's a whole other bunch of B14 BS

South Gym and Lorenzo are within Recreation Building. Their use does not change the building capacity mandated by Harrisburg.

Did anyone else hear Gibbons say on Sunday that BTN will be televising the Big Ten semis this year?
That's why it's worth picking up BTN+ during wrestling season and dropping it after BIG 10's because you can watch the entire tournament. Great entertainment for $15 a month!

Apparently Big 10s will be at Rec Hall according to this blurb rom Penn State:
Big Ten Championships
Mark your calendars for March 6-7 as we're hosting 2021 Big Ten Championships right here at Rec Hall! Stay on the lookout for more information with match times, coverage, and more.

I'll happily we wrong if it's true, though something must have changed. Even without fans it's a bit more home mat advantage.

A key discussion point was/is building occupancy.

Can't forget JJJ's (Jackass Jim Jordan) ignoring the problem at tOSU, either.

I'd think the bigger challenge would be setup for the simultaneous broadcast/streaming of number of active mats than the fitting the mats in available space. The floor level bleachers can be in their collapsed positions if there's limited to no attendance. They can just use the concourse level and above.

They had no problem Last year all matches streamed.
