This year seems to be one giant contest to see who wants to get stuck in Marinelli's side of the bracket.

Looks like Valencia lost that contest, will have to settle for the 2 seed.

(Or what if Valencia gets the 1 seed? He did wrestle several more matches and had easily the best win.)

Congrats to the Sooners too--I don't follow the Big 12 super close, but didn't expect them to win the team title.

Wow, just watched Daton Fix's finals match against unseeded (!) Tony Madrigal. I now have a LOT more confidence that RBY can not only hang with Fix but take him. Madrigal entered the Big 12 tourney with a record of 3-7, yet he gave Fix all he could handle for all 3 periods. Until the last 10 seconds it was 4-1 and Madrigal had around 1:30 in riding time.

I would not put too much stock in someone wrestling close with Fix. Fix has far more skill defensively than he does attacking. RBY has the tools to beat him, but Fix is very hard to finish on and does not make the mistakes ADS does as far as leaving position. I would slightly favor Fix, but give RBY more than a puncher's chance for sure. RBY is patient which bodes well in that match up.

Madrigal wrestled lights out in that tournament. Redding beat him earlier in the year and Madrigal took Redding apart Saturday. Redding was wrestling his best to date when this rematch happened.
