Big Ten Apologizes To Nebraska

They remedied everything by overturning a correct targeting call and allowing the OSU player to play this week. All good. Nothing to see here. At least they didn't claim that the replay camera didn't work for that one play. Keeping that one in the bank for this weekend.

Back in the day, Nebraska seemingly couldn't wait to get out of the Big 12 and away from Texas, which wanted "more equal than others" status in the conference. I guess Nebraska's finding out that every conference has a pecking order.

Yup, USC is finding out the same thing.

They are trying to match the NCAA for the quintessential organization of ineptitude.

That would be appropriate since it happened at Penn State 10 years ago to prevent us from handing them their second loss that would have knocked them out of the national title race.

And the follow up question that never gets asked or answered- what happened to the field official who made the egregious ‘error’ and the replay official who inexcusably failed so badly?

Sending out an apology note 2 days later when nothing can be done to fix the error is meaningless. There needs to be some consequence to the Big Ten officials who make these calls, (or mysteriously fall asleep in the booth at key moments, or have their cameras work fine all game until 1 key play where it suddenly ‘goes down’……but is up and running on the next play).

Isn't it funny how the same 2 schools always seem to benefit time and again? Broken record.

Holy $hit, how do you possibly mark this short except intentionally - better yet, how does this corrupt league not Review the mark (which is beyond obviously wrong) when "all plays" are supposedly Reviewed??? This homer Conference is such a f'ing joke:

What "should" be done?

I commented of this farce as it occurred in the other games thread prior to our game Saturday night:

'B1G Suck Officials were at it again at the end of the 1st half.

Neb RB gets the 1st down by at least a yard - but the 'officials' spotted the ball short causing Neb to rush their short yardage team on to the field and kill off an extra 35 seconds of the clock.

Then Neb attempts a pass into the end zone that they call them for OPI. Unbelievable sequence of ineptitude by the O$U officials.

Neb, to their credit, converted a late long FG to make it 14-6 at the 1/2.'

Nbergbuck's explanation of this one should be positively amusing... "If you look at the shot from the other camera angle, you can see the runner is way short..... blah, blah, blah...."

Public scorecards for officials for starters, so that people start getting assurances that the officials that screw up the most no longer get as many assignments to key games. You can also start holding press conferences with a head official for the conference having to face the music in front of the media when they screw up. Right now all of the accountability is behind closed doors, they never have to face the music in a sport worth billions. That's not right.
