Big Ten Coaches Talk Anonymously about Penn State

I'm sorry, but the better prospect line is a bit much. So were Hack, Bolden, and Morrelli...I'd take Trace over all of them and wouldn't blink. Same for McGloin..take him over all 3. Now I'm hopeful Clifford is even better than Trace and is incredible, but it actually has to be done on the field.
Love Trace and he was a gamer and a winner. But he was not a great QB - not precise enough of a passer and a good but not great runner. We lost some games because he could not deliver the pass to end the game (or we denied him the opportunity). But until Clifford shows it on the field, being a better prospect is meaningless.

I think much depends on your defensive line. Four linemen that are capable of controlling the line of scrimmage with minimal linebacker help is a defense that will stop most offenses. For almost a decade Nick Saban recruited defenses that were bigger, stronger and faster than 80% of the offensive lines he faced. Now Dabo Swinney is doing the same thing at Clemson. The pieces are coming together for Penn State and you’re once again knocking on the door. If James Franklin can land 3 or 4 of these blue chip DT/NG with a bruising RB like Eddie Lacy there’s no doubt in my mind that Penn State is winning another National Championship or two.
