i think it is obvious that alignment hurt Ohio State this year and what happened to Ohio State could and may continue to happen to any east division team. Had Ohio State beat a strong team in the Big Ten Championship it would have at least provided a stronger position to get into the CFP. Clearly Oklahoma beating a good Texas team helped their case. And, without some parity in the two divisions, the Big Ten will never get two teams in the CFP discussion like this year with Alabama and Georgia. As long as the Big Ten West is not respected a east division team winning a Big Ten Championship will not be comparable to winning an SEC or even an ACC championship (in most years not considering the weak ACC this past year.). This is 3 years in a row the Big Ten is out of the CFP.
