Bill Belichick to UNC... Done deal.

I am not sure that this is going to work out for the school. Why can't he get an NFL job? Is he really going to want to suck up to young kids, especially in the NIL world? I am sure he has connections to build a good staff, but then the wheels really fell off post-Brady in the NFL, so does he? Dude's getting really weird with it in his old age!

He's passed him prime.

Times are changing in CFB.

Schools with money will be the new masters

It's a splash hire but whether it will end up being a successful hire is doubtful.

I mean, if you look at the record, not many high-achieving pro coaches made an equally successful transition to college ball...or vice versa.

Jimmy Johnson...Pete Carroll...I'm trying to think of some other names but can't come up with any off the top of my head. At best, guys who made the switch did merely OK while a whole bunch were total failures.

I don't know, maybe Bill had some time on his hands and decided to wade into the college environment. Good luck to him and to North Carolina.

Nick Saban. He did pretty well in college post NFL

But yes. Not high achievement in the pros.

Belichick's last Super Bowl win was in early 2019, after the 2018 season.

He'll be recruiting players from the high school Class of 2026 and 2027 to start with.
They were 10 years old or less at the time of that 2018 season championship, so do they automatically look toward the 70-something year old coach at UNC?

Right, Saban is Exhibit A: successful in college but sucked in the NFL...and that was my point...that very few coaches compile outstanding records at both levels of football...because the game is different, the players are different, and the skill set needed to succeed is different.

Baker may be a good prospect, but i don't see him as a day one starter. This isn't going to work.

I'm not sure about UNC's NIL program. I think he will initially attract talent, but I'm curious whether he can sustain it over time.

Poor hire. Old and no charisma. Does he even have the energy or interest to recruit? That huge NIL war chest that UNC has promised will initially make a huge splash, but l don't think he will be successful. I don't think he can relate to younger players....very negative approach to coaching up players (just ask Tom Brady how tough he was on him). Coaching in a weak ACC is a plus for him, but he won't succeed. I must admit, I'll be interested in following how this works out, but long term this is not a good move for developing their program.

Do people really don't think kids are going to run to the portal to play for arguably the greatest NFL HC of all time?

Yeah, we all know how successful he was without Tom Brady; it’s funny how Brady won another Super Bowl after he left NE while NE under Belichick slowly faded into obscurity without Brady.

Bill belichick went 11-5 with Matt Cassel and went to the playoffs with Mac Jones. Brady went to a Tampa team on a friendly deal Rand they stacked the team around him.

Not so sure, College Football is Professional Football with NIL and the portal. He should do just fine.

The Patriots may have faded without Brady but they landed squarely in obscurity without Belichick.

Difference between Franklin and Belichick. Belichick can have half the talent Franklin has and steamroll everybody and win a natty
Uh, he had a guy named Tim Brady or something like that . I'm guessing that's a big reason why he won.

Billo's BC team is not on UNC's schedule next year. I think they coached against each other in the NFL when Billo was in Houston.
