Billo and his Texans wins AFC South !!!!!!!!!!!

Andrew Luck's injury issues this year let the Texans win the AFC South! It also helps that two of the worst teams in the league, Jacksonville and Tennessee are in your division.

JJ watt may be one of the best players ever when his career is done.. He was getting double and a few times tripled team today and was still causing chaos for Bortles, who by the way is bad.. 18 INT this year.

This FLO quote is for Bushy:

"The big thing in football is that you have to be in it together. First thing you have to do is look in the mirror." --O'Brien on the team.

Although it's a small sample size, O'Brien had a .600 winning percentage (15-9) in his two seasons, under dreadful conditions of course. Franklin has done .538 (14-12) and in JVP's last 12 years he did .624 (93-56), which includes those last four games of 2011 when JVP wasn't technically coach but I think it's safe to say he he did about as much coaching in those last four as he did in the first nine.

I think that makes O'Brien look pretty good, as does making the NFL playoffs with absolutely nothing at QB all season and nothing at RB for about 75% of the season. O'Brien can coach and PSU would've done well to keep him around if possible but considering that his love seems to be the NFL I doubt it was possible to keep him around long term no matter what PSU did.

Granted that AFC South was pretty weak this year but not much if any weaker than the NFC South last year, which Carolina won going 7-8-1 before going 15-1 this year. But the AFC South is about to get much better. O'Brien is the real deal in Houston. So is Blake Bortles at Jax (if you recall Jax had a high first round LB that didn't play a snap this year due to preseason injury so he'll be back next year too). Andrew Luck is good in Indy if he can stay healthy and I suspect the Colts will ditch Pagano and get a good coach soon. And even Mariota looked good in his rookie year in Tennessee. If O'Brien drafts Hackenberg and he blossoms that division could have four young star QBs.

I hope he does draft Hackenberg. That would be fun to watch and I, for one, would become a Houston fan, especially since the Eagles suck.

Does anyone think Hack will be available at Pick 22?

The conditions O'Brien coached under were no where near as bad as what JF endured. If O'Brien had the OL that was inherited by JF, there is no way he would have won 15 games the past two years, no way!

Great coach-Yes, Great man-not so much. Abandoned Hackenberg and football team for more money!

1. Stupid "the lawsuits aren't helping" PowerPoint presentation.

2. PC at times when asked about Joe's legacy.

3. While actively looking for NFL jobs, he fired Vanderlinden.

4. The david jones interview.

Not a great man. I'll give him decent because he did some good things while at Penn State.

Not a great coach. He did well in some instances and crapped the bed in others. Again, I'll go with decent.

It was funny to see the hate come out. The board "experts" picked a guy that will be a top 3 CotY candidate to get fired. He did a great job this year.

Not all of us fall in your category. I never said he would get fired this year, but I am not sold on him as a coach based on some things he did or didn't do at PSU. Also, my negativity stems mostly from non-coaching aspects of his tenure at PSU.

There will always be some negativity here towards O'Brien. That's obvious. Thus had to know that when he started the thread, especially with the words he chose.

No, quit making O'Brien look like the savior of PSU Football. He had an OL with 3 players in the NFL now. The OL the past 2 years wouldn't even generate an undrafted player.

According to some here they just need the right coach as the sanctions are an excuse. OB did a great job in the darkest of times. Pretty simple to see that.

O'Brien did a great job while he stopped by at PSU.

He's gone, and the Texans have nothing to do with Penn State football.

I could make the playoffs with JJ Watt on my D-Line

When O'Brien arrived one of those three future NFL lineman was a RS freshmen who had never played a down, one was a lowly regarded two-star recruit who had been a career backup until O'Brien arrived, and the third was a TE whom O'Brien moved to tackle. It's funny how the great job that O'Brien and McWhorter did with the OLine is held against O'Brien.

Now O'Brien did have to deal with Paterno's inept QB recruiting, but instead of whining about it, he took probably the worst starting QB in Division 1-A and turned him into an NFL QB.
