I'm considering going to Black Knight Tournament this Sunday .
Is PSU sending a majority of the team?
I know West Point requires Real ID ,or passport/ Birth Certificate. Are there any other issues or recommendations when attending??

No idea who is going, but it’s typically not the top of the team. But…🤷🏼‍♂️.
As for attending, make sure you leave enough time - if you’ve never been before - to walk the West Point grounds. Its beautiful and full of historical information.

This. We went in 2022. Based on a recommendation from this board, we stayed at the Thayer House. A bit pricey but well worth it from a convenience and comfort stand point. Spent a whole day touring the grounds and the day after visiting Fort Montgomery and hiking at nearby Bear Mountain. Hudson Valley area was surpringly beautiful and interesting. Also felt like we earned a bunch of contnuing ed credits in Americam history-highly recomended.

It is weird because on the schedule it says next Sunday, the 24th, but Flo shows it this Saturday. If it is this Saturday I would assume not many would go between the All Star classic and Drexel the next day.

I would assume, based on 2022 and 2023, that we will see all the freshmen, most, if not all, of the backups and maybe even all of the starters since it's a week after opening weekend. It's the only individual tournament date on this year's schedule, so I'm banking on close to full participation.

I have less than an hour's drive up to West Point, so it's one of my favorite dates of the year. :) Both of the last two years offered a great chance to see PSU's freshmen and backups go at it. Looking forward to this one given the number of top freshmen on the roster.

Considering most of the lineup probably won't have an official match coming into this I'd expect the full team to compete.

BTW, why don't they list the teams who are participating? I looked on Army's site and Flo and nobody says who will be there.

Strictly on a "need to know" basis and I guess the paying customers don't need to know in Army's eyes. 🤣 I'm still making the drive.

I just found the participants on Wrestlestat:

Army
LIU
Michigan State
Binghamton
Columbia
Gardner-Webb
Bloomsburg

I feel like if they get some luck with seeding PSU might put a couple guys in the finals.

Probably some other teams sending a partial lineup.

Are redshirts allowed to wrestle in this? If not, we won’t get Kasak/Facundo unless Kasaks shirt is pulled.
Don't know how one gets invited to an invitational. Flo has a link, where one can register and contact the host. It indicates that it doesn't cost anything to participate (beyond travel costs).

So maybe all Kasak has to do is ask to be invited, if he wants to participate unattached while maintaining his redshirt status.

Last year, Al Desantis of Rutgers competed unattached the Black Knight Invitational, so Kasak could do that this year if they are serious about redshirting him. To me, he is the starter this year at 157 and it is a moot point. Personally, I don't think Cael has a redshirting backup wrestle in an All Star competition at a weight with a projected logjam after this year. Kasak's style will bring more points at tournament time and that will be the deciding factor à la Cassar/Rasheed.

In the Rasheed/Caesar situation the coaching staff was convinced Cassar could win a national title, but Cassar could not beat Rasheed in the head to head competition in the room.

Rasheed didn't seem to remember it that way the year after. Quoting him:

"Last year was my first Big Ten tournament. It was between me and one of my closest friends, Anthony. I was happy I got picked but I was a little sad for him," Rasheed said. "I wanted to represent both of us out there and I knew the reason was because I was a bonus-point guy and I wanted to make sure that I did my job."

Career bonus rates as of the end of 2018 (per WrestleStat):

Rasheed - 59.14%
Cassar - 22.69%

Bonus rates for the 2018 season (per WrestleStat):

Rasheed - 68.97%
Cassar - 29.41%

Anthony confirmed this as well during the B1G feature about him. Cassar-Rasheed was a coaches decision.

Rasheed had a strong showing at the scuffle, and was cradling everyone in sight early in the season as I recall.
