Many of us have been concerned that Gilliken is a little methodical in getting the punt away, while acknowledging what a valuable addition he has been to this team. What a valuable addition! Case in point - last night. PSU had a better net punting average than tOSU. This is not just Gilliken. Coverage was great. Nevertheless, here are the numbers:
PUNTS-YARDS
tOSU 8-318 PSU 7-264
Average Yards Per Punt tOSU 39.8 PSU 37.7
Net Yards Per Punt tOSU 37.9 PSU 38.3
Inside 20 - tOSU 3 PSU 3
50+ Yards tOSU 2 PSU 0
Touchbacks tOSU 0 PSU 0
Fair tSOU 2 PSU 4
Also, Gilliken made one of the most crucial plays in the game by hustling to recover the bad snap and limiting tOSU to the safety and not a TD.
