Blocked FG for a TD - Last time it happened?

I just asked "The Google" and it said it has never happened prior to this weekend.

I was surprised to learn the Haley TD was the first in Penn State history resulting from a blocked field goal. I'm glad I was there to see it in person.

You and me both. Hard to believe that in the history of PSU football, that this is the first one. Kind of a surreal feeling that I was there for it, and that it happened at a time in PSU football history that we may have needed it the most.

Not the same, but the last blocked FG return I remember from a PSU game was Iowa 2002.

PSU scored a TD, had the extra point blocked, and Iowa returned it for a 2-point conversion.

Crazy to imagine that had the kick just sailed through...overtime never happens, Joe never chases the refs, and who knows how much longer it would have taken for instant replay to be introduced to the game.

Andre Collins did the same thing in the Holiday Bowl against BYU. One of the most fun games I've ever seen.

Did anyone verify when was the last time Penn State blocked a FG for a TD?

Sounds like the last time a kick was blocked for a TD was 2012 again against daO$U in a white-out game. However, I think it is the first time ever a kick was blocked while behind on the scoreboard late and the "block-6" accounted for the winning score in the game.

One way for Franklin to get off the hot seat would be to run this play more often.

No offense to Lou but I would feel better about the accuracy of this if we had another source besides his memory.

Actually what I found most interesting on that article, was a point that I also bring up: There are many historians who now consider the PSU teams of 1911 and 1912 to be National Champions. I wonder, if in time, more historians will change their recognition on this?
