Today's events remind me of Japanese-American relations leading up to WWII. Once again, we've an authoritarian regime bent on establishing hegemony in the region, so much so it's a threat to world peace. China's actions should make Chinese-Americans nervous. Remember the Japanese internment camps. Not that I'm an advocate. It's just that as an historian I resign myself to the fact that history repeats itself. As Brad Pitt said in Fury, "Ideals are peaceful, history is violent."
To those of you who continue to bicker over partisan politics I say, deal with the reality of the situation and not what you hope it to be.
