You guys will never believe this but I promise it is true. I was coaching a PA high school wrestling team and we took the kids to PSU dual wrestling camp. On the last night, there was a social and Cael and Casey walked around and talked to all the coaches. Cael sat down at our table. I follow everything wrestling and Cael stayed at our table a little longer lol. Recruiting came up. I said, I know you cant talk about it but that Nickal kid from Texas is my absolute favorite wrestler to watch, any chance he comes here. Cael responded with a smile and an I hope so. Classic. I will never forget that conversation. Thank u Cael for being u and thank u Bo for opting for PSU.

Bo was impressive tonight. He doesn’t even look muscular compared to the guys he wrestles! It amazes me.

Bo must eat Buck-Nuts for breakfast..........he is the buck-nut killer. 2 pins in 2 years in tremendous fashion. Glad we have an opportunity to watch him wrestle for us.

Some guys just aren't wired to get that chiseled look. No doubt Bo is as strong as anyone but his quickness, technique and awareness are all off the charts. Look into the way-back machine at the legendary Wade Schalles. Seeing him walk onto the mat for the first time wouldn't have intimidated anyone but the guy was an amazing wrestler. He had the intuitive sense of how to move an opponent. Bo has it too.

Bo has to have one of the strongest grips out there. Moore is not small and to hold that cradle that long.

Hes got country boy strength!

For those of us that are near the age of 50 or older , when you watch the Bo interview, his hair brings back memories of the music group Flock of Seagulls and the lead singer

I'm not sure how to insert picture , but maybe someone can post.

I think Nolf has a very average build for a wrestler as well. Most are of buckeyes are in the 90%tile ripped. Bo and Jason have average physiques. Raptor = 99%tile however!!

I always wonder whether Jason is trying to stay at his weight for the team and therefore cannot lift weights and cannot take Zain’s body-development trajectory.

According to the PSWC, Bo now has 54 falls (plus 10 TFs) in 112 career bouts. Nolf has 56 falls (plus 25 TFs!!) in 109 career bouts. Simply incredible!
I think Nolf could have had more pins (and fewer tech falls) if he wanted to. Instead, he “played with his food” and would not try his hardest to pin people until he was getting close to a tech fall.

You are probably right about that.
Nolf has slowly and steadily turned himself into a pinner, much like David Taylor's development.
But Nolf loves wrestling so much, I think he kinda hates to come off the mat.
He would be happy if there were 6 periods instead of 3.
Then tech falls could require a 30 pt differential.

I know most Hodge voters are leaning towards Bo.

But a few quick thoughts.

1. The 197 class this year as a group is hot garbage compared to 157.

2. Kollin Moore is impressive, but he’s never been an NCAA finalist at any weight, lost to Cassar last year & was tossed on his head twice by Conel.

3. Nolf has throughly destroyed 2, 3, 5, 6 & 9. Beat 4 for a title on one leg & will see 7 & 10 later this year / B1Gs.

——

But - the Hodge has a career aspect to its voting & its hard to forget moments.

And Bo has moments w Sammy Brooks, Gabe Dean, Myles Martin & now Kollin Moore.

Sadly, those moments make Nolf’s pin of IMar seem a loooong time ago.

They should just cut the trophy in half and give a half to each kid.

I would guess that Nolf or Nickal could care less who wins the Hodge as long as the team continues to kick ass. Splitting it would be the best solution. Has that ever happened?

There were dual winners one year when Cael won, the other winner was a human interest story that escapes me at the moment. Btw, I am not saying the other winner was not deserving, I frankly do not know.

I do think that Bo winning this year would be cool since he went to the same high school as the Heisman winner. But I also hate to see Jason not win. Dual winners works for me!

I'm starting to like Bo, classy wrestler helping Moore up after the match. Maybe if he would've done that with Brooks in Carver instead of putting his hand to his ear it wouldn't have taken me so long to come around. Either way I hope he wins the Hodge, he deserves it. Nolf does to, but there can be only one.

Can be only one...is this highlander?
