This might be covered in the thread but i'm rushing out so i'll ask here and see what comes of it.

When our TE caught the ball at the 2 and did not step OOB and thrust the ball closer to inside the 1 before actually going out... is that play reviewable (more to the point, is Franklin allowed to challenge it)? Or is the fact that witvoet is running the replay show enough to convince the coaches they are wasting their time....

Second, if we are at the line and the ball is spotted and the other team is running around like headless chickens... is there some legal reason we can't snap the ball and take advantage of the opportunity we seem to have been trying to create? Instead, we wait for them to figure it out and gset lined up. Not quite understanding the concept but maybe we're not allowed to snap it?

TIA

There are no challenges in college football unless you are Harbaugh, then you bitch about the call where the punt was erroneously called down on the 2 yard line long enough that the morons decided to review the play and reversed it.
As for your second question if the offense substitutes players, then the officials stop play until the defense also gets a chance to substitute.

If the offense made substitutions the d is allowed to also make substitutions. So an official stands right behind the center stopping play until the d is set.

With no offensive subs they could snap it but usually the o wants to see how the d is set and then call a play. It would be good to do a quick snap occasionally ......think we did a couple times....but that often leads to illegal motion calls since the players are expecting to get a play call and aren’t set.

Also, perhaps the o often lines up with out any play in the no huddle and must wait for a play call. But not 100% sure on that one.

OK, thank you.

So on the first, when the crowd went nuts watching the replay it might have made sense for Franklin to do the same. It certainly appeared we'd be going for it on 4th down inside the 1. Then again, Witvoet likely decides the toe was OOB (well, it IS a michigan game lol) and we're back running the fake FG disaster. [When play-calling so close to the EZ the angle of the kick is so difficult for a righty from the far right hash mark. I dunno if i'd be calling plays to that side. But i'm not coach.]

On the second, your answer is what I presumed but in the one instance where i lost my stuff the ball was spotted and we appeared ready to go... michigan clearly was lost.

Thanks to all.
