"New York (CNN Business) -- Walmart employees' vests are getting a bold makeover.

The signature blue vests that Walmart employees have worn for years will be replaced with a modern gray look with a neon blue, green or pink trim. Walmart (WMT) last redesigned its uniforms in 2014.

The company announced the changes Wednesday during its annual shareholders meeting.

The new vests will be made from recycled bottles and have bigger pockets than previous vests.

The vests are "neutral steel gray," and most associates will wear bright blue trim. Associates at Walmart's smaller Neighborhood Market stores will wear green trim. Self-checkout hosts at Walmart Supercenters will wear yellow with gray trim. And in the future, Walmart says employees will be able to choose other colors, including pink."

When their vests wear out they can recycle them into roads...or maybe milk cartons....or tongs.

I used to work for Home Depot in supply chain (not in a store). They made us wear the orange aprons in the office. I HATED THAT. I always wondered if Wal Mart and Lowes made their non-customer facing employees do the same thing.

From the official Walmart release - "These new choices will be announced later this year and will be available for associates to purchase online for a reasonable cost: no more than $11 per vest."

So could associates choose to still use their blue vests or will they be forced to purchase a new one? Also if forced to purchase that seems like one helluva cash grab by Walmart from its employees - though mistreating workers is nothing new from them.

Workers can’t unionize, are paid jack and now have to purchase their new uniforms. A few reasons why I won’t go there.

Greeters will also now say, “ Welcome to Walmart, I love you “.

I have one word for you - "Plastics".

It was the future. Now it's the past. And being recycled back for the future.

Plastics.
I like the vest the girl in your sig pic is wearing, but I don't think it would look very good on many Walmart associates.
