Brendan Mahon admitted to Hershey Med.

I'm speculating that he needs some specialized foot surgery because of some "complications" related to "circulation" in the foot.

Easy to speculate but my thoughts with athletes in this situation usually go to something like blood clot or staph infection.

Somewhere I saw McGovern to RT, Dowrey and Laurent at RG.

Hope it's not serious.
Think the McGovern to RT was if something happened to chase wright. He played whole game vs Iowa. They will move bodies around to avoid pulling redshirt on Fries

Another worry would be compartment syndrome, rare after sprain, but always an urgent issue to rule out or correct.

Yeah, I was thinking of compartment syndrome or infection. Both eminently treatable, but would probably end his season.

Doubt they would transfer him if it was compartment syndrome. Time can be of the essence in treating that. I'm sure they could perform gas optimized at the first facility

Sorry. Autocorrect changed fasciotomies to gas optimized!

I know that happened to an athlete around here--though I forget the details. it can be serious.

Good Lord I hope it is not compartment syndrome. I almost lost my left arm after a multiple compound fracture to CS about 15 years ago. One cannot explain the pain involved with CS.

I have two wicked cool scares though

This is exactly what I though of when I read the story about Brendan. When I was playing football in HS, I got hit hard from behind about mid-calf high on my right leg when covering a kick. There was a small bruise but nothing unusual after a football game and the pain wasn't too bad initially but got so bad that night I couldn't sleep and it started going semi-numb. My parents drove me to the emergency room, X-rays were negative and I was sent home with some 800 mg ibuprofen which did absolutely nothing. Luckily, my mom took me to a different hospital the next day over the objections of my 'shake it off, be a man' dad and there was a good orthopedist on duty who diagnosed it right away and sent me to surgery that afternoon to relieve the pressure or I might have lost my leg below the knee. Three scars and four months later all was mostly well.

Hoping the best for Mahon. If it's acute compartment syndrome his season is likely over but he'll probably be 100% for spring practice.

Scary sh*t for sure. I had to get a graph to cover the wound for 4 months... still can't fully extend my left thumb.
