Bucs turn 4-5-4 triple play! First time EVER in MLB!!!

Takes a lot of stupid for that to happen.
I just saw the replay and the Pirates' third baseman was considering adding his own dose of stupidity. It seemed he was on the verge of tossing the ball into the stands until he realized everyone was screaming for him to throw it back to second base. Walker said Kang likely thought second base was already tagged and therefore he felt he had just made the third put out. Imagine if he did toss the third out into the stands. It would take awhile to live that one down.

Both Kang and the runner initially thought Walker had tagged second. The dugout set him straight, along with the crowd.

Kang thought it already was a triple play. I think that is a ball he would have kept for himself or Walker.

You can actually notice/hear a large number of fans yelling for a throw. I couldn't stop replaying that.
The initial confusion makes that replay even more memorable .

No it doesn't.

Baseball has bang-bang plays.

A sharply hit line drive, runners running on contact, make at the very least, a double-play possible.

Know your baseball and hold your incorrect comments.

Actually, it took a lot of stupid to say what you said.

Fair is fair. Right fair?

;-)

I like you Nitt but come on kind sir.

Hope you weren't confusing that comment as coming from me, Glov. Anyway, was at the game. After all the games I've attended finally got to witness a triple play.

Runners on second and third. Nobody out. Rule #1 Make sure the ball goes past the infield. Rule #2 for runner on third. Make sure ball drops before taking off. Lots of stupid to allow that play. I can see a double up of the runner on second, but galactically stupid play by the runner on third.

it is really up to the 3rd base coach to relay that info in a timely manner to the base runners. and for the base runners to be WATCHING THE COACH and not the ball!!!

Disagree. Third base should be watching the play, not the coach. His back is to the coach once he takes any lead off the base. Play is right in front of him. Make sure the ball goes through before you move.

Fair is nearly always right, but even when he is wrong, he is always fair.
