Looking for a new Cajun spice rub for steaks, any suggestions?
When McCormick discontinued their Southwest marinade packs I was pissed.

Try rubbing the steaks in olive oil, a little garlic and the Montreal Steak spice. My favorite way to grill them. The olive oil gives a crisp sweetness that is hard to beat.

Not Cajun, but pick up some of this if you see it in your stores. Good stuff:

Did they got rid of all of them, or just the Southwest one? It's been a bit since I've used them but the Mesquite and the Chipotle were my favorites. I've since switched to blends from a local company at my farmers market.

Mt, I work at a meat shop. Processing along with just about anything and everything flash frozen.
Wednesday through Saturday they use their smoker to have "hot and ready" meats to sell. Chicken legs, chunks of chicken breast, chicken halves, boneless country style ribs, 1/2 rack babybacks and 1/4 pork loins. Each of these gets the Everglades rub on them.
I believe there is one form of Everglades that is called cactus.

Good stuff.

They have some good local Seminole/Micousoukee Indian seasonings down here - cheap as hell too. Of course the main ingredient is usually MSG..

Montreal steak seasoning, some olive oil, dab of orange juice, shot of franks hot sauce and pour over the meat. Great if you can cry-vac it for a few hours.

I have the recipe at home on the cabinet door. If anyone wants it, let me know and I will post.

Friend said you need to add some kind of citrus - I prefer OJ - when marinating beef.

Some on this board don't understand the difference between the noun and verb form of the word "season".... sad but true.
Fo TJ: We have a winter! Hate to spring it on you but summer seasonings and others fall into a different category.

I put seasoning on my meal. (Noun)

What are you seasoning your meal with? (verb)

Why do people struggle with variations of the word "season"? Something can have seasoning on it, and not be considered "seasoned". French Fries generally have seasoning (salt/pepper) on them, "seasoned fries" have more than just salt and pepper.
