...!!!

Anthony - When is someone affiliated with the University going to push back with this incessant PSU bashing by ESPN, etc.?

And when are we getting our bowl money back and fines reimbursed after PSU was cleared and sanctions expunged/wins restored? Could someone at PSU make a statement on the record and at least ask for what is rightfully ours?

As an Alumni, I have seen and heard enough. Is there not anyone who has a few stones to at least attempt to pushback and show we do not accept the narrative?!?

With the size and success of PSU, if it were up to me, I would leave the Big10 effective immediately. Not feasible? Financial implications? Could it possible be any worse than the free-for-all giveaways that we have seen the past 5 years?! My bet is that you would see an unprecedented response from Alums and the $$ would be quickly restored.

People respect others and institutions that defend themselves against false charges. Enough playing the patsy!

Help!

If you're looking for answers from Lubrano, you're looking in the wrong place. This is the same man who gave Ira Lubert his endorsement to head the BoT It appears we placed our faith in the wrong person/people. They should all resign. Shame on all of them!

Good luck - maybe one of those folks will "push back" against ESPiN (or whomever).......
But they sure as hell won't "push back" against the sum'bitches they are SUPPOSED to push back against

They will just give those Scoundrels the Keys to the Castle and say:
"Have at it, Boys!......Steal all you want!"

No one at PSU has the balls to do this, but I'd love to see someone at PSU to make a threat towards an ESPN that if they continued to make damaging remarks, or remarks based on nothing but personal opinion ... that they'd file a lawsuit. Sometimes a threat is all you need. Even if PSU had a 1% chance of winning, an entity such as a business does not want even that 1% risk. I'm sure based on the threat of a lawsuit, the Risk Management Dept & Legal Depts at ESPN would have to evaluate the likelihood of a PSU victory, and then advise the station of what to do. This is the only chance I see of forcing the pie-holes at ESPN to shut it down on their PSU narrative.

Based on PSU's current track record in the courtroom ESPN would be better off taking their chance in court. PSU would probably end up paying them millions.

I seriously don't know why a single person is expecting anyone, ANYONE associated with the University to ever do anything. Or to expect those on this board who have been told things to say or do anything. "Everyone cares" but nobody does or says anything.

There is a degree of PC/gutlessness on the BoT. They should have long called out Delany and the rest of the BigTen on the stolen funds, the Paterno trophy and the lousy "censure" by the Presidents and Regents.

Does anybody have the exact quotes from Fowler? I want to contact Sandy but what to be sure I have it correct.

Our BOT are carpetbaggers. In it for what they can get out of it. Nothing more, nothing less. They are glad handers seeking out whatever a handshake can bring them not bringing anything to the table or seeking any personal responsibility outside the arena of self gratification. And that is apparently is their modus operandi to a person.

Here is the bottom line. If you believe pigs like Lubert, Frazier, Peetz, Dambly, Heim or anyone else cares what you think.

We'll hear something substantive from Anthony after September 17. He promised. We just didn't realize he never said what year.

I fear he has allowed himself to be neutered. Maybe Tom will come and reassure us that there are things happening behind the scenes that he just can't talk about now . . .

This is worse than the Warren Commission sealing up the records on the Kennedy assassination, and we're all rubes for ever believing anyone would do anything worthwhile.

Things are definitely happening behind the scenes, but just slower than anticipated. It will be worth the wait. Some people will come out looking better, and some will come out looking worse. The insurance company is also very much calling at least some of the shots. I would tell you more, but I was told all of this in strict confidence.

I'm 54 now, does it happen before I reach retirement age?
Hell do the trials for Curly/Spanier/Shultz happen before then?

My fading hope is that the trials go in favor of the good guys (C/S/S) and then at long last, someone at PSU crafts a strong, definitive, declaration that tells the world that the accepted narrative has been dead wrong all along. And then, they unashamedly and without worrying about any backlash from outsiders including media, do the right thing in the future whenever appropriate and logical (!) around honoring JVP and his legacy and his career and what he stood for. I'm less concerned with bringing back the old statue, but I'd support replacing it. I'm more interested in a permanent display of his yearly records and emphasizing Success With Honor and his emphasis on education and the incredible impact he had on his players and those associated with the program.

And someone needs to apologize to the Paterno family, and then to all alumni and 'friends' of the school. A humble, generous, and very public apology. In other words, one that would require lobotomizing one of the OGBOT to deliver. So I don't hold out hope for one of them - who should deliver it - doing it.

Unfortunately, the bashing is founded in truth so it's not really bashing. It is an ongoing reminder that Sandusky has been convicted of crimes. PSU really doesn't have much of a leg to stand on in that regard.

Someone mentioned yesterday or Tuesday that ESPN didn't once bring up OJ Simpson (USC Alum). That is true. However, OJ is Not Guilty (wink wink). Paterno is the lightning rod that will cause this to have a life for about the next ten years (or until some other highly recognizable sports personality gets associated with something like this).

The chances of a rebuttal by PSU ever happening, in my opinion, are precisely 0.0%.

Paterno was to be a prosecution witness. He was never going to be charged, because he did nothing wrong. Penn State's BoT made him guilty in the court of public stupidity, when they rushed to judgment, and terminated him. The low life c*cks*ckers.

One of the reasons they are probably delaying the inevitable with C/S/S (i.e., either they drop all charges or the whole charade gets tossed at court) is that C/S/S have near iron-clad "Malicious Prosecution" cases against the Commonwealth and its OAG. Corrupt Corbutt and the "political patronage Junta" that created him has put the Commonwealth in between a rock and a hard place -- "they're damned if they do and damned if they don't" as the saying goes.

ESPN is no different than Fox news, CNN, MSNBC. There is no real news reporting these days, it all the opinions of whomever has the microphone or Blog to spew his/her personal opinions as if they are fact. Just take a look at the sad way the media handling this past election with incorrect news, slanted statements, fake news, and just per bias. It is in a sad state that will never turn back with 24 news, internet and thousands of wanna be's shoving their opinions/agendas down all of our throats. Not much we can do except turn the channel.

Why do you think Ohio State was deemed this invincible force, better that everyone else...Herbie, Galloway, Robert Smith and the Ohio State ESPN clique with there daily drumbeat and man crush on Urban.

The media today is worse than our politicians when it comes to honesty, integrity and personal agenda's.

Have to defend Galloway and Robert Smith. They were big Penn State supporters. Herbie on the other hand can go suck it.

Totally agree. And I'll go one step further... I believe it is a total conflict of interest for ESPN to have a poll, have a news outlet, and also broadcast the games. I've basically said the same thing as you when it comes to ESPN and their ability to slant opinions to serve their ratings.

Don't get your hopes up for this result changing the narrative. If/when these three on found not guilty, the national push will be- see Joe was in charge not these three. These trials unless something new comes out, will change nothing.

I feel the same way, especially after what happened in the MM case. I don't know the law but I do know the facts:
  • PSU did not terminate MM. He was paid for the balance of his contract which O'Brien elected not to renew.
  • O'Brien only hired two of Joe's assistants and they only lasted 2 years. He testified that he didn't hire MM because he wasn't qualified.
  • Rhule testified that he didn't hire MM because he wasn't qualified.
Somehow this turned into PSU discriminating against MM because he was a whistleblower. I find that amazing. It's as though the facts no longer matter.

I agree that the narrative is unlikely to change but it won't be that Joe was in charge. It will be that failure to prove guilt does not mean they are innocent.

Agree with most of what you said, however, you forgot to mention the JoePa is Not Guilty either....... with no (wink wink) needed. He was never charged, tried or found guilty of any crime.

With the size and success of PSU, if it were up to me, I would leave the Big10 effective immediately. Not feasible? Financial implications? My bet is that you would see an unprecedented response from Alums and the $$ would be quickly restored.

You will hear absolutely nothing from him. Know why? You asked some very straightforward questions.

And have ownership interest in several of the Conference's media networks (as does FOX). These media outlets are knee-deep in "conflict of interest" in regards to the "corrupt boxing promoter" way that Major College Football and its "championship" are run!!!

I agree. I was not implying he was guilty. I'm sorry if that was inferred. What I meant was that Paterno was/is a prolific public figure and it feels good to some to drag him down.

If the coach at the time of 2001 was a guy named John Doe, then it is almost a certainty that the story would have been Sandusky alone rather than dragging in an individual who was a minor bit-player at best.

I find that amazing. It's as though the facts no longer matter.
Amen. There are so many things/decisions that have occurred since November 2011 with the entire 'scandal' that defy logic and do not make any sense.

For instance, how was Sandusky convicted of the 2000 Janitor incident with no victim and no (credible?) testimony? That is simply bizarre as can be. It's why you want to avoid a jury if at all possible, I suppose, because some people are just too dumb. How they arrived at MM whisteblower decision is equally bizarre.

There is a simple, one word, answer to your question. Never. :(

Related:
On the Penn Staters 4 Responsible Stewardship Facebook page, that group is posting notice of the upcoming process to nominate three to serve as alumni reps on the BOT.
The terms of Jubie, Pope and Lord expire this time around.
Have to wonder how many of those King-Ira-backing representatives again will receive the PS4RS endorsement.
If so, you have to wonder if PS4RS isn't just a false store front.
In the past few years, with PS4RS endorsed people filling all of the alumni seats, what has changed?
-- Has the BOT gone backwards or forward on transparency?
-- Has the BOT moved toward being better or worse listeners to the Penn State stakeholders?
-- Has the waste of money on various Sandusky investigations/settlements decreased or increased?
-- Has the BOT jumped to or away from defending PSU and its athletic programs?
You could not get an answer to the final question Monday as most of the top administrators and, I assume, a large number of BOT members were attending the Rose Bowl; probably on the dime of the very program they have participated in the condemnation of by refusal to utter a single word of defense.
Sue ESPN? Hell, Penn State's top brass, led by the A9 endorsed King Ira, continues to be complicit in furthering the negative story line about Penn State football.
ESPN isn't the real problem. Those in leadership roles at Penn State are.

So now you and others are gonna start turning on Lubrano, a guy that has poured his heart and soul in to defending Joe. Strange how even the best intended individuals get burried by internet folks who do little else but criticize those who actually do all the hard work behind the scenes. When are you going to do something???

Why would they? ESPiN and the BoT are on the same page. In fact, the BoT gave the page to ESPiN.

I don't think it's turning on Lubrano. But, Wouldn't an occasional 33-1 vote or similar be a welcome change? For me, that vote was a slap in the face.

On the other hand, (not to redirect this thread too much), what has the alumni group really accomplished? I see much of the same old same old.

I can see where some would be wondering what the alumni group accomplished but we did manage to vote some of the original carpet baggers out. Although the executive BOT's then just changed the rules and voted some of them back in but at least a few are gone.
