As I see it this is a game deciding and, I could (easily) argue, season defining field goal attempt. Given that, we should want to block it, right? What was this then?:
What I see here is Marcus Allen (who had a pretty important field goal block last year) and Koa Farmer backing off the line at the snap and not rushing. I also don't see some of the players who notoriously have obscene verticals (ie Gesicki) in the package.
I'm not saying that I am a college level special teams coach. And I'm not even saying we should definitely have a package with Gesicki or Irvin Charles in it. Curious why we wouldn't, but fine if we don't. I am however saying that I don't at all understand why 2 of the 11 players on the field wouldn't attempt to block the kick.
