Have only rented a car a couple of times and wondered who everyone rents with to get the best rate. I am going to be in Orlando, if this matters.

Go to orbitz or expedia or a site like that to shop and get multiple price quotes. Prices can vary dramatically among different companies.

Not sure how much you need a car....consider downloading the Uber app and just using that. Its quick and convenient. Unless you need a car to come and go often, Uber is a great alternative.

Orlando rental car market is sooooooooooooooooooooo competitive you'd have to eff up big time to get a rate that is horrible...

FWIW I was in the rental car business (national chain) in 89-92 and we'd rent out a car mid-size car (Plymouth Acclaim - yowzah!) for $29.99 per day .... just booked a three day rental in Myrtle Beach for next week at, you guessed it... $29.99 per day ... rental car business is certainly a slave to price-elasticity

Stick with a familiar national brand and cite a common discount (eg: AAA, AARP, AA) and you should be golden

I'm usually booked with National for company travel through our very frugal office manager, so I assume their rates are very competitive.

you can Google car rental in Orlando and should find many deals. The agency at the airport are probably the highest, so check ones where perhaps they are a mile or 2 away and see if there is a hugh difference. One good thing about car rentals, most don't require a CC to reserve a card, you just get a confirmation number. You will need a Credit Card to rent one how ever, a debit card may not work. And I don't know your age, but there could be age restrictions, like no one under 25.

If flying into Orlando, try to piggyback car rental with the airline. Try doing similar with hotels.

If you can make it so that you are the only one driving, that helps hold the costs down.

Orlando should be a walk in the park for car rentals.

Hotwire will give you the cheapest rate. Just pick one with airport shuttle

As mentioned if you are a AAA Member they have some good discounts - I use Carrentals, com also - watch anyone that wants a credit card to reserve the car - that's BS.

It's not just AAA. If you have roadside assistance through your car insurance they may get you a price.

If your only interested in cheapest? Join Alamo and search their discount and promo codes, although it varies buy market.

Watch out for additional fees added on by the airport. Got a good deal from AA--but then NOLA added on $81 in "fees and taxes". Ouch.
