Unknown for certain right now. 9 allotments seems certain, I have seen where some believe the Big10 will earn 10 spots.where does Kuhn need to place at the Big Ten Tournament in order to qualify for the NCAA’s? Thanks.
February 23rd, according to the NCAA, though this stuff does occasionally escape a day early . Per the NCAA...We won't know that for a few weeks. Automatic qualifier numbers won't be out until February 22 or 23. Probably 8-10 auto qualifiers for the B1G at 125.
One more scenario...The scenarios are:
- Kuhn starts 2-0 --> clinches 6th, in
- Kuhn starts 2-1 --> clinches 8th, in
- Kuhn starts 1-2 --> drops into a 4-man mini tourney for 9th/10th
- Kuhn starts 0-2 --> done
He will very likely be seeded 13th or 14th (not sure if a 1-2 record with a win over ranked Akins will be enough to get him to 13th).
Either way, he'll open with Tomasello (3) or Rivera (4). If he loses, he'll get a very winnable match vs. Maginnis or Cray. Then his next match will likely be Mattin or Welch.
If he wins his opening match vs. Tomasello/Rivera, his next match would likely be Mattin or Welch. Win that and he's in. Lose that and he gets a very winnable first consi match.
Was going to add this, but you covered it. 7 bouts (Nathan is at 6 now) will not earn the conference an allotted slot. tOSU with 2 duals remaining.Conspiracy part of me, but does Tom sit Nato just so Bigs gets less qualifiers?
I doubt it, but......
This certainly would not surprise me.does Tom sit Nato just so Bigs gets less qualifiers?
Not Tan Tom!This certainly would not surprise me.
I thought about that too ... but their remaining duals are at Michigan and at NC State. Both teams match up pretty well with Ohio State, and have tough 125s who would definitely bonus Nato's backup.Conspiracy part of me, but does Tom sit Nato just so Bigs gets less qualifiers?

The only reason I brought up Akins was: Wisky's Jimenez is 0-3 in conference (plus a couple blowout losses to conference foes at Midlands and UNI Open), 3-9 overall with no wins over ranked opponents. He looks awful. With his remaining schedule, he'll likely finish 0-7, 3-13 overall with no quality wins.One more scenario...
Assuming 9 or 10 slots...the losers in the R12 (2nd Round wrestle-backs) will battle for the 9th and 10th (if the allocation is 10) spots. The only wrestlers eliminated at this point are the 2 losing wrestlers in the first round of wrestle-backs. IF THIS HAPPENS...To get 9th, he'll have to win 2 bouts against the likes of Clay, Maginniss, Foley, and/or maybe Oliver. To get 10th, he must win his first bout in this bonus 4-man bracket.
If there's NOT 9 or 10 allocations, 125 won't be seeded through 14, and will only be seeded through 8, meaning he gets a random draw in the first round, and we can throw out all speculation about who he'll face until the seeds are announced.
Also, I don't see the Akins bout affecting B1G seeding at all...
Lack of B1G bouts matters, but I don't see a difference in seeded 13th or 14th. In the end will surely be wrestling the same guys for a spot. Hopeful, given how he wrestled last night.The only reason I brought up Akins was: Wisky's Jimenez is 0-3 in conference (plus a couple blowout losses to conference foes at Midlands and UNI Open), 3-9 overall with no wins over ranked opponents. If Kuhn is 0-2 with losses with Tomasello and Lee, not sure what kind of tie-breaker they would use. Akins is at least a ranked opponent.
Maybe the committee would decide 0-2 > 0-7. Or they could decide to reward the guy who wrestled more matches, even though he stunk on ice in all of them.
My hope as well. Kid brought it last night against a former champ. Not knowing what to expect...pleasant surprise he did as well as he did.I think only a hideous draw and a huge upset dropping one of the top 4 seeds back into his path will keep Carson from stealing a spot.

Not much time to solve the stamina thing...so smart wrestling moving forward.
I’m not worried Roar. Typically the stamina thing after a long layoff is jitters and pace. It usually is gone after only one match. Now...if weight cut related that could be different and since he’s not been 125 in forever that might be it. But to me the pace was blistering in the first period and he was adjusting to real match speed. I think he’s good. Next week won’t tell much but Buffalo will.
Last two seasons were injury-shortened, but he wrestled 133 in both. Last Carson saw 125 was 2014-15.I posted this elsewhere but that is the main question for me. How much of the fatigue was just rustiness from a long layoff and not being up to match speed and how much was due to a brutal weight cut. I hope it's mostly the former.
Wow! That’s a policy change.Not Tan Tom!

I’m pretty sure broken eyelashes and toenails meet Tommy’s criteria as reasons guys may not be healthy enough to participate.The key word is "healthy". According to Tommy Rowland on Trow and Funky, healthy pretty much equals 100% for Tom Ryan
