Coming up with a list of college football's 100 greatest games ever is obviously no small task.

Matt Brown of sportsonearth.com has done so. Agree or disagree with his list it's fun to look back at some of the greatest games in college football history.

Penn State makes the list five times (8, 20, 36, 60 & 70).

In case you were curious, Pitt is nowhere to be found as played in the 100 greatest games in college football history. Pitt is truly an irrelevant key chain program.

A bit surprised that last years Rose Bowl was in the top 50. It was a great game to watch but had no national meaning. It was kind of like an exhibition game. No surprise that our thumping of Miami in the Fiesta was in the top 10.

No surprise that pitt wasn't given a sniff. Neither was Akron or Toledo.

Thumping? That's slight overstatement.

I spoke with Matt Brown earlier today. He said last year's Pitt vs Syracuse that ended in a 197-185 Pitt win would have been 101 had he made the list longer.

Yeah, other than the best historical programs in the east and west coast, with multiple heisman contenders, beginning their seasons with some dissapointing losses only to turn their seasons around and point to contention MNC runs the following years, and playing in the most historic bowl game of them all... there was no meaning or significance to the game at all.

It's funny to think if it had not been for those 2 seconds in Ann Arbor the greatest college football game ever might not have happened. The computers had us infront of Texas all year, some even did after the loss.

The Northwestern team that thumped Pitt in a bowl last year made the list twice. But I guess it's a tough list to crack. Pitt could never dream of being more significant than Toledo, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois, Centre College, Harvard, Marshall, East Carolina, Georgetown Nevada, Columbia, Carlisle, Chicago, Yale, Appalachian State, and who could forget Iowa Pre-flight.

Never thought of it that way... the worst officiated game in CFB history lead to the best game in CFB history.

Toledo actually had a couple of games clock in at number 97 on the list, making your point all the more salient
