Chicago foodies, what recommendations do you have?

You'd be a fool to go to Chicago and not try Giordano's deep dish pizza. Believe there is BIG DIFFERENCE then the deep dish pizza (crap) we get around here, like an Unio's, and what Giordano's is serving. My god it was good.
I’ve had it. Twice. Once at the shop outside sears tower, once in Orlando. My opinion is that Uno’s Tastes better. Must be an acquired taste, maybe the sauce... idk.

Tourist trap.

I’m going to be in Chicago in a couple of weeks and would like to enjoy a nice meal. Was thinking about maybe trying the Purple Pig or Girl & the Goat. Both seem like good options, with Purple Pig closer to my hotel. I’m staying in the near north side area intersection of (N Michigan and E Lakeshore). Is there anywhere else that I should consider? Dive recommendations are welcome and appreciated.

I know I mentioned it in your travel thread, but I can’t recommend enough to go to Smoque for BBQ. again, I know you heard me once suggest it’s but throwing it out there again for the others in here.

And I’ll second Smoque again!

Personally not a fan of purple pig or girl and the goat. Foods solid but a lot of better options out there. What’s your definition of nice or really price point? Chicago's great because there are restaurants with great food at affordable prices as well as amazing food at not so affordable prices.

I do agree with an earlier post that if you want steak Bavette’s is great.

Blackbird, Avec, Publican, Proxi, Pacific Standard Time, Roister are all great options that are more reasonably priced

Boka, Kyoten, Next, Acadia, Parachute are some of my favorite upscale places

May be controversial but IMO the burger from Au Cheval is the best burger around (with bacon and fried egg). There’s a reason why even locals wait an hour+ for it.

Terrific, underrated place in Andersonville for Italian is Calo. It's on Clark, just north of Foster.

If you like Mexican, you need to go to Frontera Grill. Great food and drinks. It pains me, as a Californian, to say that Chicago has better Mexican food than San Francisco.
