What do you think of David Taylor and Andrew Long at the Midlands? DT wins at any weight. I can't wait to see Andrew Long on BTN in the finals. What do you think currently of:

Nico vs. Gilman

Retherford vs. Sorensen

Nickal vs. Meyer

or

We could do a hypothetical of a dual between Iowa and Penn State? It could be a late Christmas gift to one of us?

If the dual was to happen today...

125- I think Gilman edges Nico... May not happen in March. 0-3
133- Clark in a decision over Conaway 0-6
141- Gulibon over Carton or Ryan in a decision 3-6
149- Zain over Sorensen in a very close match. 6-6
157- Jason Nolf pins Edwin Cooper Jr. or at least techs him 11-6
165- Gino Morelli beats Patrick Rhodes in a decision 14-6
174- Bo Nickal wins in a decision over Alex Meyer 17-6
184- Sammy Brooks with a close win over McCutcheon 17-9
197- Morgan puts the clamps again on Burak 20-9

Grothus pins Gulibon.
Not going to happen. Grothus may wrestle at 141 per Chief on your site, but he won't pin Jimmie Gulibon. He may not even win. Let him get on a mat 1st... Francis.

Gilman and Nico...too close to call. Toughest weight in college...any of the Top 5 guys can take it. I love that DT and Long are competing...DT in a walk...I also think Long wins it. Would like to see Grothus or Turk wrestle him...Grothus wouldn't be ready so it would be a tough one right out of the chute. I hope DT goes 97 because there are a lot of seeding issues at 184 that can be sorted out.

You already got my opinions on the dual in the Christmas post and the SNAFU of the scheduling. I know the B1G has some type of algorithm to all of this but to leave off PSU vs Iowa, or Iowa vs tOSU is just plain dumb.

Or the wrestling gods have a sense of humor and want our respective fan bases to debate this through the postseason

It's plain idiotic. No matter the algorithm. No Penn State vs Iowa leaves an empty feeling in both fan bases. The season isn't a season without Penn State vs Iowa. The coaches hate each other behind the diplomatic screen. It should be mandatory to wrestle each other... every year. You want to grow the sport? Not having this dual leaves a pit in your stomach.

If you want to grow the sport. Have an event before an Iowa Dual pitting the coaches against each other. Tom Brands vs Casey Cunningham. Ryan Morningstar vs Cael Sanderson. Would fill both Kinnick and Beaver Stadium in a dual match against these rivals. I merely jest, but the bad blood is like the two rival sites... minus you Chief. ;) MitchL... My boy Mitchy aka Bitchy... Has got himself in a bunch. WE should go at it on the mat for seven. I'd hate to ZPAIN him in a power half, his arm twisted behind his back while turning him, contorting his body... like this poor soul  or cross face him until his nose disappears. I merely jest... once again.

I just want to see Gilman freak out after losing to Megaludis. That one comes to blows, in my opinion. If you want to beat Gilman, you have to upset him. He will crack if you're continually-physical beyond necessary and score on him. I remember when he lost his cool at the Clash quite a few years back and gave my hometown a W over Skutt.

Thanks, Gilman.

After being in Iowa not too long ago for the NCAA championship I was ready to go with some Iowa fans(they were ready, too). I think it would be healthy for some fans from each side to roll around in the snow(when it gets here) and burn off some tension. Coaches, teams, and fans. We'd definitely sell out Kinnicky and the Beav.

We'll have plenty of matchups at BIGs and NCAAs with the Hawks to burn off the energy without having to wrestle as fans in the snow.

Might be a good place to explain B1G scheduling. This is a neutral post, only sharing info.

When Maryland and Rutgers joined the Big Ten, and the decision to go to 9 duals was made, a new model was created.

1. We wrestle Ohio State every year (each team has 1 "rivalry" team).
2. We wrestle the remaining 12 teams, 2 years out of 3.

Simple really. In words, we wrestle 8 matches a year vs rotating teams, and Ohio State every year. 4 teams roll off the schedule every year, the 4 we did not wrestle come back on, followed by the 4 that we wrestled for 2 years rolling off the year after, then the whole thing repeats itself.

Last year (14-15) we did not wrestle Wisconsin, Northwestern, Nebraska, or Illinois.
This year (15-16) we do not wrestle Iowa, Minnesota, Maryland or Rutgers.
Next year (16-17) we will not wrestle Michigan, Michigan St, Indiana, and Purdue

This will repeat itself, so that we wrestle the 12 mentioned teams 2 years out of 3.

So, unless the B1G changes something, we'll wrestle Iowa and Minnesota, in conference, in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

The 2 out of 3 matrix also means there is a home-and-away scheme too.. So next year, we should have;
Maryland, Rutgers, Northwestern and Illinois at home.
Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois (as well as Ohio State) away.

After further thought...it makes perfect sense that Ohio State would now be our rivalry match every year. Both teams have owned the crown in the recent past and project to vie for the crown in the future as the pinnacle pendulum power of wrestling has shifted to the east of the Mississippi.;)

My thoughts are that Iowa and Penn State should make this happen every year regardless of the B1G schedule. I liked what Iowa and OSU did at Carver this year. Would be fun to kick off the early season with the big dogs to get the blood pumping.

I would sure like to see them wrestle every year!

Just me, but I'd much rather wrestle Iowa every year. I think we have the best rivalry these days and the two most energized fan bases. Should be like tO$U/UM in football. Every year. It's a mere five years since Iowa was on top. They like to talk like Penn State is still an upstart, but that just makes things more fun these days.

Simply put, not having Penn State/Iowa wrestle every year is idiotic. There have been so many epic matches, even in pre-Sanderson years, that the wrestling Gods should demand it.
